Alomar?  He has over half of his similar players as Hall of Famers.  I thought you said he couldn't have any hall of famers on it to qualify?
Must have 1 to qualify and added 10 years on the ballot as well. Don't want any 1 year wonders.

Ok sounds good. Misread it. Thanks for clarifying.

Can Pete Rose be used for this? he hasn't been on the ballot at all -

i'm interested, but i think hall of famers should be blocked (and perhaps a cap on salaries on everyone else on your roster - meaining no player worth more than $6.5 mil on the rest of your roster, for example). Otherwise, what's to stop someone from taking a cy young winner - and then getting boxed out from getting the award by someone that takes a hall of famer or the same situation with an MVP.

Players have to have been on the ballot or have at least one Similar Player (using baseball-reference.com) who is in the Hall of Fame. Nine of Pete's 10 similars are in the Hall.

I'll go with Cy Williams

True, somebody could try to spoil the party, BUT... The free team does not go only to the winner of MVP/Cy Young, but to the highest finisher of the chosen players on a playoff team. Sure, drafting 1921 Ruth and putting him in Coors will be hard to beat, but there are plenty of one year wonders someone could do the same thing with. So there would have to be 5 guys like this in both leagues. Seems very unlikely. Also, if you draft better talent than your chosen guy, you're actually hurting his chances of MVP/Cy Young.

A case could be made for a cap on other players, but at 100 MM and no AAA and assuming you spend $8-$12 MM on your pick, there's not much cap room left to draft other guys over $7-$8 MM

I'm going to allow Pete. He meets the description. I'm from NY, old enough to have seen Rose play, but young enough to not have seem him in his prime. Now I live in Cincinnati and surrounded by "Pete Rose ia God" people. I've always viewed him as a borderline HOFer anyway. Sure he got a lot of hits, but he hit .303 doing it, without any power. That really bugs the Pete people. :)

I'm also friends with his bookie, FWIW.

He didn't get many votes, and the 10 years weren't in a row, but I'm seeing a potential 80 HR season for you.
