Assuming the worst player to ever play in college has a 1 rating, i would probably have went negative on some of these, but as HD doesn't allow it, I settled for 1.

I played 2 years in junior high and averaged 1 point.....per YEAR.  Every Christmas, for the past 43 years, my mom pulls out my team picture.  She's still mad that the coach couldn't recognize my talent.   She says my ratings would be 90+ in every category.

I have really weird skill sets, since I played PF during high school and then transitioned into a SG with no jumpshot, but I did play some solid defense. Weird thing is, I am really bad at shooting beyond the arc or just within it, but am really good at FT. Can drain 10-20 in a row during practice, no problem. I also have little dribbling skill since I played big but can pass pretty well if I see a guy making a cut.
This could be the best thread idea ever.

Yep, this is fo real.  I saw my coach down in Austin this past March (the high school state championships) and he told me I was the best spot shooter he coached.  He might have emblished a little, but I had dat jumpa......oh, and our high school team (class of 96) had a ton of talent, we just played for ourselves......

So you were a high-end D1 guard?

I'll go with my peak.  No one cares how totally out of shape I am at 27.

I was a pretty solid athlete without a ton of actual skill.  I like to think I'm one of only a handful of 5'10" Jews who could throw it down pretty hard.

I was a decent HS inside scorer (6-4) with no athletic ability or speed. Was not much of a rebounder either with no ability to jump. Only real skill was plowing inside to score.

It's interesting to hear how people learn the game.  I was 6'2" in the 8th grade.  I never learned how to dribble or shoot outside shots.  I learned how to box out, rebound, post up, pass out of the block, and shoot FTs because I was fouled so much.  By the time I was in the 10th grade I was still 6'2" but now playing PF or C against guys 6" taller than me.  I became great at the up-and-under, the hook and jump hook shots, shot fakes, shooting with either hand from under the basket, tipping, and could knock down any shot within 10'.  I had to compensate against bigger guys and learn to use my body to make them shoot the ball from 6' away instead of 3'.

In college, playing pickup games and intermural I found out I had a nice outside shot and could nail 3's.  I was never allowed to do that before.  LOL  I had to teach myself to dribble and was good enough for pickup games but I always regreted that a coach never taught me ALL the basketball skills.  Teaching youth basketball for over 25 years since, I make sure no matter how big or small you are, you need to learn all the basics.  I became a student of the game.  At soon to be 54 and after several injuries, shoulder segury, and an extra 40 pounds from sitting behind a desk, I'm not the player I was.  I've got the moves, just no more speed, stamina, or durability and I have a 6" vertical leap now.  But boy if I knew then what I know now!!!  That is why I coach, or should I say that is why I teach.
