the biggest change is they took away that hidden "i win" checkbox in the low right corner of the stats->national champions page

i think the press has become much less effective at d2 without elite stamina (probably an average of 85+ of your core lineup, and even then you should have 11 or 12 guys able to play 3 deep at some positions because with bad stamina i've had guys come back in at 'fairly fresh' or 'getting tired')

work ethic also more important than ever imo

despite the constant ridiculing jones has to endure for his love of work ethic, in all honesty, it is a lot more important than it was at the low point. more important than before potential? i don't know, seems like a bit of a stretch to me. but its basically back to that level.

In the old potential logic Work Ethic was about 70% of a kids potential, where the stat was in HS was about 10-20% and the coaches practice plan made up the difference. When FSS potential was released it basically capped things, which was something I completely dislike.

Just changes in recruiting, and more impact players. You can easily get guys to average over 20+ a game while still shooting a high %. More importantly you missed me too

Good to have you back, Z. I'd say I agree with a mixture of what's already been posted. It is tougher than before to win big in DI outside of a BCS conference. But I think a strong coach like you could do it at Zaga w. solid baseline prestige and a decent area to recruit in. Press is not as strong as before, which is a very good thing. I actually think they have it about right at this point.

But I think OR is right, in the endgame it's very similar to before. I've made some adjustments in how I do things, but the core of what I do hasn't really changed a lot from what I was doing before.

D2 and D3 are much different when it comes to recruiting in that you have the ability to pull down much better players than in the past and on top of that with less people in D1 you can hang on to them also.

Thanks dalt. Needed a break. Gonzaga will be a challenge and with a pretty poor class nearby round one I figured I might end up striking out due to not having as much postseason money. We'll see, I'd love to jump back into a BCS school (which I think my resumse should qualify me for) but I was denied. I guess that brings up another point - does my Phelan resume (even with its recent shortfalls) qualify me for a BCS job? I think it should baseline B or lower, not an elite though.

Another huge flaw is the hiring process in d1.  D1 is a complete mess.
