Things as useless as "favorite school"... Topic

I agree with cheeze. I don't think either favorite school or near/far preference mean all that much. If it really mattered, we wouldn't have to buy the FSS to find them out. If I am at Missouri and some kid in Oregon lists me as a favorite how am I supposed to know?  If it really makes a difference, they should put it out there for free or at least put the info in the scouting trip feedback.

I can see saying it doesn't much but using this as your reasoning makes no sense. I guess it doesn't matter much whether a kid is high potential or low potential in athleticism, if it really makes a difference put it out there for free.

Kmasonbx, are you saying that if two schools are battling and one of them is listed as favorite school that the other school has to outspend the favorite school by 3-5%? That could easily equate to a couple thousand dollars.

I absolutely think that if you are a kids favorite school they should contact you.

or you get a list from the AC at 6pm on Day 1.

Or have them start out considering you and sent you an email.  Just sometimes, it might allow a smaller school to get someone special.

You can definitely find out near/far preference via non-FSS interactions like coach calls.  I imagine you can get favorite school as well but I don't specifically recall seeing it.

I forgot that you can get the proximity preference in coach calls, the coach will say something like "he has some crazy stalker girlfriend so he wants to get a way" or "he'd prefer to stay right around here." But I don't remember seeing anything about favorite school.

The high school stats are useful in seeing the kid's current FT ability.

I actually really like wronoj's idea of a list of everyone - keeps your inbox from being flooded by dozens of messages you'd have to look at.

I like this idea too!

Another thing I would like changed is if an ineligible is gonna go juco, DON'T sign!!  Its a total waste to find out a kid you dumped money and then signed is not coming to campus..  They should be upfront during the recruiting period saying that if they don't pass the eligibility test, they are gonna go juco.  This way we can re-evaluate our other prospects and dump money elsewhere..

I kind've like how it is with ineligibles. It adds another layer of strategy to recruiting.
