Increase Injury Rate to Overused Pitchers Topic

A fair point.  A ratings percentage drop in the short rest start would probably be closer to accurate to real life.

And we're back to a fatigue engine change.    I'd argue that a pitcher who throws 40 pitches on Day 1 can pitch again on Day 4.

If it has to manifest itself as a fatigue engine change, that's fine.  Any pitcher who throws 90+ pitches in Game 1 is probably not going to be your best Game 3 option in real life.  In HBD, as long as it says 100%, he is.  The gist of the suggestion is that there needs to be a risk/reward tradeoff for such a tactic.  Currently, as long as the guy's at 100%, there isn't much of one.  (There is the risk that he won't be back at 100% until Game 1 of the following series but that's not really that big of a deal.)

EDIT: Well, not that big of a deal early in the postseason.

That's really what it is.   Fatigued players are more of an injury risk.

I haven't seen a recent discussion on it (aka where has Arlen been?) But statistically, there's room for plenty more injuries to bring this game closer to actual professional baseball stats.

I believe the last time we had this debate, there were more on the actual ML DL than most worlds, rookie up to ML.

That's correct.  But everyone hates injuries.  When's the last time you saw a "NOT ENOUGH INJURIES?!?!?!?!?!?" thread?

4/19/2011 2:45 PM
The last couple of injuries I've had in one of my worlds have been to guys who have been drastically underperforming.  I'm looking at the injuries as an excuse/opportunity to not have them "keep playing through" their season-long slumps.

And don't say "this one" because he's very specific on when he'd like an increased injury risk.

Other than mine? Not so much.

But, getting an injury makes me less nuts than seeing someone signing a 28 yr old ringer with 46 health to a 5 year max contract because they know they can beat the reaper most times. I say punish the masses, punish them severely for their insolence.
4/19/2011 2:54 PM
With the current medical bug, you're not punishing anyone with more injuries.
4/19/2011 2:58 PM
Different thought. I'm talking all things being equal.

Really, for those that resist it; for each time you get injury pain, there's 31 more times that you get to see someone get it up their pooper with a massive injury, AND it gets announced in the league news on the main sign on screen, thus allowing for the appropriate mocking in the league chat.

That kind of joy, you can't buy. Well, you can, it's $24.95 a season. But you get what I mean.

I actually am a proponent of "more injuries"...but it doesn't make much business sense for WIS.  How many times would a player watch his top SS go down before he just quit the game altogether out of frustration?  A few more nagging day-to-day type injuries might not be so bad, though.

Fatigue is supposed to mimic the three day injury but the number of injuries to fatigued players probably needs to be tweaked to make it work.   Those of us who only use players at 100%, unless there's an emergency, usually end up with 1-2 players with 160 GP and a bunch between 130-150.  That's pretty realistic.
