Pearl Jam is the American Silverchair.

Nirvana was good and they helped to define a genre, but they may or may not have hit their creative peak anyway.

KISS was from the 70s.   And I'm not going to call Lady Gaga fantastic either. 

The point was that Hendrix and Nirvana influenced the sound of music.    KISS and Lady Gaga, while well-known, did not create a new sound that was copied by others.   They certainly influenced the industry of music but not the sound.

Influence doesn't discriminate. Sound, industry, subject matter, whatever...

The industry dictates what people hear, and what people hear influences their sound.


But, yeah, I get what you mean & would agree. I was kinda joking with my original Hendrix remark; like an early death automatically means you don't deserve recognition.  Apart from that, Nirvana Unplugged is still a great listen now and then.
