Because HCA is borderline retarded?  I thought we had already answered that question.

Can any of the Veterans or Hall of Famers explain why Home Court Advantage drops after the rollover. I went from a B or B- back down to a C+ and it's not like I lost a ton of games this past season. Out of 30 games total I was 24-6, all 6 games were OT losses, and I think I was 3 losses at home, one on the road, and 2 nuetral. If you're winning the majority of games, both at home and on the road, shouldn't Home Court Advantage steadily and gradually go up????
That's the design in D2 and D3. It's largely to keep D2/D3 HCA's from getting too high. Happens sometimes in DI, but often it does not.

I think there are some bad parts of HCA (some have referred to it as "borderline retarded") but I don't find this part bothersome.

Northwestern's HCA has dropped back to A- every single season, including following year 42's NC in Allen.

OK, that's borderline retarded.

A sampling of current Allen DI teams with the same or better  HCA as A+ prestige Northwestern:

Auburn (B+ prestige)
Central Florida (B- prestige)
Gonzaga (B prestige, A HCA)
Idaho (B- prestige, A HCA)
Temple (B prestige)
UTEP (C+ prestige, A HCA)
Vermont (C+ prestige)
Wisconsin-Milwaukee (C+ prestige, three postseason appearances in the last 29 seasons)

I get that Gonzaga in the world of HD is somehow still a tough place to play based on like 2002 or whatever, but I'd love to see the metrics that puts a higher value on the Idaho fanbase than Northwestern.

What is the  "fan loyalty" comment all about?  What?  Are they using a real life made up fan loyalty measurement?  That is silly.  I just can't believe that would pass the acid test if anyone would have though thru it.  They can measure that objectively?  So both HCA fan loyalty and baseline prestige are based on real life and not what if. Great.

I think using attendance numbers would get you a pretty good idea of 'fan loyalty' while isolating exactly the aspect of it that affects HCA and being objective.

Now, as to whether that's a good idea for this game is another story.

I believe hcamay be  related to the previous couple of seasons success, as well as baseline prestige. It's easy to get up to an A+ hca, and somewhat hard to fall from it. My St. Louis team finished last year at A+ and is still there after a 5-5 start. Conversely, My Louisville team which I picked up last year, was 1-26 the year before I got them, and 9-18 last year, my first year there. I never budged from an F. This year we are 13-8 with a pt rpi, and only now are up to a D after spending most of the year at an F. I think simply if your team wins a lot of games it goes up. In the offseason, unless you have made a deep run in the nt, you will drop as "fans lose their excitement". I believe it's way too easy to get an A+ hca in this game (in d1).

I think that's all well and good, but why do fans lose excitement so much more quickly at certain schools than at others?  It just occurs to me that there's something inherently wrong at linking HCA (and prestige for that matter) to a real world metric when we're in season 50 of Allen, for instance.

Send in a ticket. This is a game not the real world.
