well bad news fellas...One of my guys just got poached by an ACC school the cycle before signings. Still hasn't signed, but I don't think I'm going to get him.
Well at least you handled the situation with maturity and class on the Metro and ACC CC's...

Oh, no, actually you didn't.  Nevermind.
Any chance you could let us know what was posted?  Just curious and honestly, looking for a little humor to brighten my day.

Gladly - of course, if you're looking for humor, just check out thechive.com and chive on for a few hours.

But, here's coach's hissy fit on the ACC board after Virginia supposedly poached (recruited) a player he was on, spurring coach to tell jskenner to go after George Mason's recruit instead (which most likely goes against fair play guidelines, but w/e):

And who are you Car with your vast experience...You are in a conference with 1 human player. ONE! Some of us are actually challenged during conference play.

I understand its a part of the game, but for that guy it was shocking.

Haha jskenner did he really just ask you to poach one of my recruits? I guess some people just don't realize it's part of the game, but that's a little immature.

lwbraun - Nice job on Aquinaldo. St. Johns was considerably weekend due to a recruiting battle with Canisus and he was ripe for the plucking. I was wondering who was going to spot that. You might not win, but I like your chances. I guess that's why ...

Really Virginia???? Why dont you poach the kid going to George Mason. Hes much better than Harper.

And then here is some more from coach and jpeterson on the Metro-Atlantic CC (reads from bottom to top):

I didn't "tattle" on you. Your post was clearly there. It's not like I saw a comment on your conference board and then quoted it and put it on the ACC board.

coachhamp   And to you Car, I don't see how it's unethical to tell a coach a better player is out there. Especially if said player is in his state. Do you have a right to be angry at me, yes, but to tattle on me??? Come on, lets put on the big boy pants today. ...

coachhamp   ...The kid went to Georgetown so I must have been right. If your are going to make condescending comments on the ACC board such as "haha, He doesn't know what poaching is" like I'm some rookie, then I'm going to come after you.

coachhamp   Thor I'm going to defend a conference mate. That's just who I am. I don't care if the Big 6 schools "poach" players. Georgetown and Auburn both took recruits from me. No big deal. It was when Virginia took a borderline MAAC player from me ...

I'm not trying to pick a fight here but when you tell another coach to steal my recruit, that's unethical and I easily could have reported you. Rather than do that, I moved on and not once did I insult you, but you took it upon yourself to insult me ...

What I don't understand is why pick an unwinable fight with an A+ prestige. many of us got here because of our attention to detail so why would anyone post a comment like that? seriously?

I actually don't "poach" my conference mates, ask all of them, though I have repeatedly beeen under attack unsuccesfully. I'm a conference first guy, and there is no such thing as poaching. And this has nothing to do with you so stay out ...

jpeterson84   I always dread the time right before signings, some b*stard from a major conference (Big East or Big 10 are the usual culprits) always tries to swoop in. You would think that if you have to poach a mid-major last minute that you might not be all ...

Can't seem to get the last bit of it on there, but the rest of that message is "You would think that if you have to poach a mid-major last minute that you might not be all that good a coach."  Since, you know, jskenner is such an awful coach and all...
7/8/2011 5:42 PM
no.
7/9/2011 4:04 AM
No such thing as poaching. I understand it sucks thinking you have a guy and lose him to another school, and you can get mad about it. But no need to go crazy on the boards. Keep it to yourself or sitemail one of your friends if you really need to talk about it. If there's a recruit out there and he's not signed by anyone, that means he's available. You really made a big deal out of nothing. That being said, I would say a minimum of 30 WE unless he can play (quite a bit) early.
