Don't want to mess up #1 overall pick Topic

I would take either Tunkel or George with Andujar requiring some consideration ,they is by far the best players you have shown us.None of the hitters are remotely close to being worth passing on one of those guys.I like Tunkel over the other two.

1)  I made an assumption, probably not correct, that you had only looked at the best pitchers, and not all the players.  If there is no position player as good as these 6 pitchers then you are correct these are your options for this season.  If you feel as though you should always take an SP with the #1 pick and didn't look at position players, then I would re-evaluate that position in light of these SPs.

2)  It's not strictly true that you're stuck with this season's pool.  You could draft a guy who probably won't sign, and take the second pick in next season's draft instead.  I don't think Tunkel is so bad for a #1 that I would do that, but I would at least think about it.
1.  I've looked at the Top 500.  The only hitters my scouts can see that I thought were worth even considering as #1 overall are the four I showed in my earlier post.

2.  Dedelman...I hadn't thought of drafting someone who won't sign and taking a compensatory pick next year.  That's pretty sly.  I like you your mind works!

The hitters ratings are current ratings.

Williams durability is 51, projecting to 73.  The thing that bothers me is his handling of pitchers.  It's 41, projecting to 53.  Based on my admittedly limited understanding, that's not very good...doesn't help my pitchers much, right?

Are you f***ing kidding me?  You draft Zip Lord and thank your maker that someone with such an amazing name was even a choice.

Tunkel and the true beauty of him is, besides he just being the best pitcher of the group, if you are lucky enough to reach the playoffs with him, his 39 durability may afford him to get max starts in the postseason, where an ace pitcher can really make a difference.

You mean 39 durability ranger? His durability will never reach that since currently its at 29...WIS doesnt create SPs with over 35 durability now, so his scouting is obviously off.  Tunkel would be the best choice.

even with 29, lets say it improves by 2 or 3 so 32 dur is still awesome, and good enough to easily pitch the 1st, 4th, and 7th game.

Tunk is hands down the guy to go with.  And not just because of his awesome dur sta

No one named Tunkel will ever be a legend.  Hootie maybe more infamous than famous in Stichless, but everyone knows his name.

Hootie Donatello didn't have much of a career in Caray.  I'd stay away from the Hooties of the WIS world.

Who did you pick? Tunkel never appeared on my draft board.

I took Tunkel, and I'm not the least bit disappointed.  He signed right away, and his projected ratings didn't change much.

New projected ratings, after signing, aren't alot different.  Durability, which projected to 39, which everyone said was not going to happen, now projects to 29.  I'm still okay with that. Stamina dropped all the way from 99 to 95; I think I can live with that.  Control dropped quite a bit, from 92 to 85, but still very solid.  Effectiveness vLH dropped from 84 to 78; vRH stayed at 100.  1st pitch projection actually went up (nice to see errors in scouting works both ways) went from 73 to 84; 2nd pitch improved from 75 to 76; 3rd pitch dropped from 62-60; 4th pitch up from 71 to 76.

I'm starting him at AA.  He'll pitch the rest of the year there.  AAA next year.  Majors in 1-1/2 seasons.

Liked my second pick, too, rmancil.  Apparently signability scared some folks off of Greer, who I had in my top five.  I got him at 61.  Now I have to sign him.  Think $12 million will convince him to pass up college?  That's how much I have left.

I think the game is a bit flawed in that with a pretty good HS and college scouting budget I never even saw the top pick in the draft. Hard to imagine that in real life, in fact I also failed to see several other top selections as well.

If I could manage to sign all of my guys I will have a pretty good group of pictures in a few seasons. Now I have to get some bats to working. I played a ton of young players this season and that should benfit the club in a season or two.

rmancil...I hear you.  I would have taken Tunkel anyway, but there were at least two top ten picks that I didn't see.
