I'm trying to take a Silver King OL team to the playoffs and my first two attempts don't look good. One of my SK teams is 44-43 just past the All-Star break with SK paired with Jack Taylor. I thought fatigue might be a problem but my pitchers are cruising along happy and rested. If anything, I have too many innings. I will use SK in long relief between starts now that I'm in the second half of the season, and I'll see if I can coax him over 750 innings. He's only on a 675 inning pace right now. He is doing everything I could expect of him -- 25-15, .229 OAV, 1.08 WHIP, 2.52 ERA in his first 44 starts, 27 CG's. Jack Taylor has been so-so, bullpen is 8-9, 22-for-25 SV/SVO.
My hitting isn't strong enough -- cookies like Carney Lansford, Ken Singleton and Maury Wills have been great, everyone else either needs to be rested too often or is underperforming. Mitchell Page is 29-for-29 in steals. Shaybee is burning up my division with a .783 team from hell, and gbonini has a .632 team that should be a lock for the wild card. My other SK OL team is 20-25. Back to the drawing boards for my SK teams.
In my 50/50 quest, I will obviously use different pitchers -- maybe Walsh/Chesbro and Keefe/Conway for my first two attempts. I'll be happy just to get 40/40 for starters.
