Arb eligible guy on 60 day DL Topic

Arb eligible.  That's the key.  He's not under contract.  You can release players who are not under contract

Have you been drinking?

Placing an arb eligible player on the DL is tantamount to placing him under contract then?

No I haven't been drinking, but I am thinking I probably should be at this point.

I guess the point is "no player on the DL may ever be released, and once a player is under contract he may not be released while injured."
I can see that.

Yes, have a beer and a shot.    I don't know the full set of MLB rules as they apply to HBD but you can't release DL players in MLB.  Since the DL is 60 days max, it doesn't carry over thru the off-season.   So MLB teams can release players who are not under contract for the following season even if they had Tommy John surgery in September.
