there is a pretty big rivalry between the GLV in d2 tark, and the MIAA in d2 tark. well, i guess you can call it a rivalry. we always compete for the top spot, but we almost always win, although they have taken top rpi and occasionally beaten us in post season bonus money, too. its still a great rivalry though, we rib each other, and are always competing at the highest level. my conf mate posted a stat like, in the last 30 seasons, we've won 15 national titles, and them 7. plus, they are so geographically close, we battle for recruits all the time. we both almost always top that 5000 mark in bonus money (i think we were at 8-9k each this last season), and that .57 mark on the conf rpi, both significant landmarks IMO.
so, i think its one of the better conference rivalries in HD. they are easily a top 5 conference in all of d2, and if you looked at a 20 year dynasty period, they might even be #2 to us. so even though we are beating them regularly, as the top d2 conference of all time (and id argue, the greatest conference dynasty in HD history), they really keep us honest. not many conferences are regularly posting .57s and winning championships every 4-5 seasons. they are truly a fine conference, and a fine competitor - and its great to have someone nipping at your heels to keep you from getting lazy. at one point i was recruiting so hard, we even had 10 coaches of our 12 who had won multiple national championships.
