Round 16:
Team 1: Scott Schoenweis - RP, Gabe Gross - OF
I made an idiot mistake a few rounds ago. I drafted David Dellucci thinking that I could use his D+/D+ outfield defense to make him a mediocre first baseman. But his default position is DH for that season, meaning playing him at first would be a disaster. Instead, I needed to use his next best season, which has 200 less plate appearances. Luckily Gross was available and he will be the last portion of my three-man 1B platoon. He's a similar player to Dellucci, but will play better defense. I could have done a lot worse this late in the draft.
As for Schoenweis, he is a servicable reliever, who should provide 60-70 solid innings.
Team A: Heinie Heitmueller - OF, Scott Service - RP
I'm scrambling to build a good first base platoon for this team. Heitmueller will be the first part of that. His raw stats are only so-so and his defense is bad, but he normalizes very well. I'm hoping to pair him with 1-2 additional people who play better D.
And Service will definitely be a Service-able (har har) long reliever. My only concern with him is with 84 real life IP and 1.13 IP/G, I may end up not using him as much as I could.
