Delaware Valley - Crum - season 24.

My 6th season there. Had reached the S16 and the F4 the past 2 seasons, and first ones with all my own recruits, but this season I had a blast as I felt I was truly putting myself on the map as the dynasty to beat in this world's DIII. We ran away with the RPI crown, and even after the national tournament with an SOS somewhere in the top 10, I don't remember exactly what off the top of my head and don't have the files with me right now, had an average margin of victory of close to 35 points. The team featured the two most dominant players I ever had and was led by Frank Busby, great name, who both was the national player of the year and defensive player of the year that season. I also had 2 future defensive players of the year coming off the bench for that team as little youngins, ...ahhh. Nothing beats taking everyone's attention and yelling, "I've arrived." Definitely my most fun season. It was also memorable because despite being a big favorite in the national title game, I was upset by Cyben5150's Johnson St squad which spawned my favorite rivalry and "best hd friend" as we continued to meet something like every other season in the NT and on multiple occasions jumped on recruits early that the other really wanted. Great times.

Thats an awesome story...any one on that team set new team records??

Busby and Hosey (the other dominant guy) are still 2 and 3 on the school's scoring list, and back then it was harder than it looks to be now to just feed 1 guy and let him take over so they did good work. Hosey is still 2nd on the rebounding list. The backup PG, then a redshirt fr, is still 2nd on the assists list. Busby also ended his career near the top of the DIII all time steals list (I think he retired as #2). He's also still the DVC leader in minutes played for what it's worth, having been a 4 year starter and playing in a lot of postseason games.

dude, you just came back to delware valley..that's awesome to re-coach a team you have so much memories. you down to set a non-con game. can't next season, i'm full but the season after that, or set up a rival?? what are you hope the second time around?

My favorite team was my Phelan Season 12 St. Peters team.   Season 12 was a special one with Sophmore shooting guard Ernest McConnaughy and  Junior power forward Duane Kane leading the peacocks all the way to the Season 12 Final Four.  St. Peters finished season 12 ranked # 3 in the country with a 29-5 record and a 6 RPI.  As of season 46, McConnaughy is still the schools all-time leading scorer, Senior pg Christensen is still the schools all-time leader in assists and Kane is still the schools all-time leading rebounder and also the schools only NBA draft pick 1st rd # 24 to the New Jersey Nets.  Not only did the small Metro conference team shock the nation, the run also provided their coach a resume boost which led to me moving to Durham, NC and taking over the Duke Blue Devils.  Took me awhile but in Season 33 I finally led a team back to a Final Four and the Blue Devils didnt disappoint cutting the nets down for Duke's 1st NT Title.

My favorite team was Bowie St (Rupp DII) , season #55. They were my only undefeated champions.  We had some close calls, winning 15 games by 10 points or less.  Our Elite Eight game was 65-64 over Georgia (coach cculhane) and the Final Four bout was 56-55 over Rockhurst (chawkins11). 

In the final we had a rematch with sparkgee's fine Colorado St. Pueblo team. Bowie won the first time 53-50 and took the NT crown 62-45.

My favorite may have been Manhattanville (Naismith D3), season 47, even though I got upset in the first round of the NT.  That was probably my best team while at Manhattanville. 

Went 28-2.  Was stacked with speed (ran FB/FCP).

Season 16 in Tark DII I won the NCOY with Humboldt State (31-1) and won the NC with UCSD. It was during Rails' amazing DII run with West Chester. The next season UCSD lost to West Chester in the NC, and it all just went downhill from there.

In season 50 in Rupp, I decided to try creating a "Billy_Graham" profile in Rupp (normally I am chapelhillne). For this profile I would only recruit players with names that appeared in the Bible. Four years later, the team went 34-1 and won the National Championship.

Season 46 - Charlotte (Rupp)

I remember that I pulled in a really good freshman class - but then I had to leave the USA for work.  My Sprint phone didn't work internationally, so I couldn't check up on my team whatsoever.  When I finally did log-on, I made it to the Final Four!  My best season ever.

Just goes to show that I know nothing about how to run a team on a day-to-day basis.  It turns out I'm better off at just 'set-and-forget'!

That was such a cool idea. Do you remember any of the names?

Season 2 - NC Wesleyan in Naismith..... the legendary team that started Dowdygate and caused major changes in early recruiting
