red, keep in mind that emy doing that with his Duke team is different than you doing it with a non-elite DI team. The players he's getting don't have nearly as much room to improve as guys signing at low DI/D2/D3. So extra IQ may make more sense for him than it would for you.

And as salag said, you need to take a look at your whole team -- optimum strategy for a team with almost all jrs and srs is certainly different than optimum strategy for a younger team.

Also remember there is obviously an advantage to having individual skills improve faster -- even if a guy maxes out as a junior, that means you have a longer period with him playing at his highest level for you.

I think if your guys are maxing out early junior year you need to get players with higher potential (probably more true for D3/D2 than D1)

Well those juniors are red shirts so technically they are seniors. I will have a D2 team with players maxing between 720-760 by the beginning of their JR or SR year and the rest of the growth is mainly stamina or durability or WE while their IQs are A- to A.

I normally do 20 but go down to 15 if I have a young team.

why so low for your young guys? wouldn't you want the IQ improvement to develop first?

As I stated earlier in this thread, I am the opposite of TrentonJoe. I like having my players IQ's in the B range at end of FR season, and so would be A- by end of SO campaigns. I go with 25 all the time for Defense, and 25 on OFF for a young team, 20 for an older team.

Trentonjoe, I believe wants his players to max out their individual attributes first before focusing on the IQ.
