I might be interested, but not if I have to religiously follow a prescribed set of instructions like some kind of HD flow chart. Give me the reins and suffer the consequences and we're good to go...

(*Of course I will actually try to the best of my abilities to win your games and recruit good players, etc...my point being, trust me with the keys or don't, I don't want to just be a button pusher...)

It's actually easier when they are instructions. When I needed help recruiting, I sent the sub coach a list of recruits, in order, for each position.  I also send defense/offense settings for each team I was facing in my absence.  Two minutes a day for gameplanning was all that was required.

It's not supposed to be fun, he's simply asking someone to babysit his teams for a couple of weeks and offering a bit of money to "just be a button pusher".

I've been in a conference with Pokes before and know of his other ID's.  He's been at some schools for several, several seasons and if I were in his shoes asking for help, I would want someone who was just going to follow the instructions I laid out, period.

Pokes, if you can't find anyone else, I'll look after your teams for you (this is also emy1013, if that helps).

**Edit**  Have to retract my offer Pokes, I wouldn't be able to check your teams those last two days.  Sorry.

Jesus christ.  The guy didn't ask for a lecture.  Either you want to help or not.  If not, I don't understand why you would comment in this thread.  And yes, I understand the hypocrisy of my non-substance-related post, but this is why (obviously) people have stopped posting in the forums.
Why is the only acceptable post a positive one?  This guy wants to make a sizable request like this at the last minute, and we're not allowed to wonder/criticize about it?  Wow...you know what the easy solution is here...get a smart phone.

Colonels, you know that I usually agree with most of what you say, but I think you were just a bit off base with your first post.  If you didn't want to accept his offer, then there was really no need to respond.  Read it, don't like the offer, move on, simple as that.  I'm with Isack on this one, no need to lecture the guy, he's just asking for some last minute help.  Have a nice day.

It's only a sizeable request if one coach does the entire job. It can certainly be delved out to multiple coaches.  It's also possible be critical without being rude.

I have a smart phone and recruiting is a PITA.

You're "allowed" to do whatever you want. That you're "allowed" to do jackass things doesn't make you any less of a jackass when you do them.

Fair enough...I'm just an independent, make it happen kind of guy...and every situation is open to whatever response the poster sees fit, and if that bothers you or scares you off, that is not the fault of the poster, rather how you react to it.  I'm not saying I wasn't harsh.

I can help for free. I can do like 1 or 2 teams. But i'm not a great coach so don't get mad if I jack up. SM me.

PS: Congrats!!

If I was certain I'd have internet access I wouldn't be asking for help.  But, I'm not sure what I'll have in Belize.  And I really don't feel like losing momentum with my programs because I can't recruit.

gopokes - I sent you a sitemail and I have a pretty good success rate at D2 and D3.

where in Belize?  Most places even backwoods have internet these days (and assumed you are not taking honeymoon in a tent) (spoken from Guatemala)

he's under no obligation to accept my offer. He asked if anyone was interested, and I laid out my terms. I suppose you wouldn't choose me then, and he doesn't have to either...

You guys do realize it will take me about 30 minutes to tweak the instructions I put together three weeks ago right?  Thank you for inferring my complete lack of planning and devotion to my fiancee.  I really appreciate it.  Stay classy.  Thank you for reminding me why I don't read the forums anymore.
Hey there-- I wasn't judging, just offering wisdom.  You have to admit your request reads a little funny and I resisted for as long as was humanly possible.  If nothing else, I figured it would get the conversation started and present you with some options while giving the rest of us a good laugh.  You've really made many of our lives easier with your request ("See honey, I'm not as bad as this guy")   I would now point out though that you are hardly coming from a place to be able to talk about class.   Sorry if I offended but it seems like it worked out.  Many blessings for your marriage, your honeymoon and your Fantasy Teams.
