You can always ask someone who has a school in that state to share the FSS information...... you will both get kicked off this game for violating the new fair game play guidelines.... but you can still ask if you want =P

The easy answer is.....always use FSS for at least one state. I also can't remember the last time I recruited without FSS. Potential is everything in this game, and if you don't know your recruit's potential, you very well might be stuck with a guy that's not improving very much for four seasons. 

Don't worry about other messages (such as mid-level DII, or a top DIII level prospect) - those messages are always window-dressing.

...and even if they're not window dressing, it's probably better just to understand what you want out of the player and what FSS/evals tell you he's going to be.

Glad you got your answer kevo. As you can see from my career record and history, these types of questions are about all I am qualified to pontificate on. The only other thing I can add is to echo the FSS recommendations. Scouting one or two close states (depending upon the state size) is essential for you. Those costs can keep you from wasting coach calls, player calls, and letters on bad recruits. It pays for itself right there. Good luck.
