Was he perhaps a high marginal d3/almost d2 player, maybe?

There was a guy at DIII who refused a redshirt even when I gave him 5 HVs and a CV, so finally I backed off and removed the redshirt and he signed immediately. That's been my biggest recent expereince with this.
that amount is *just* under the amount i think it takes to be sure to get any d3 recruit to take a redshirt. the amount of effort you gave is actually exactly the amount i give AFTER he is already considering me, and i never had an issue. it has been a while, so its certainly possible there are d3 recruits who wont take a redshirt, but it would be the first time ive heard about it.

im guessing the answer is yes, but out of curiosity, was this a d2 dropdown?

I don't remember if he was a dropdown or not. Possible considering I usually recruit DII level guys at DIII.

He's Michael Waldron from my South Vermont squad, and he's one of two guys on the team who don't work in my ten man rotation. (The other one is the inspiration for that other extremely long thread).
