i think your perspective is a little short sighted jeff.  ive heard all the "ath+spd" stuff before, but i think the ath multiplier is definitely worth more than the spd multiplier especially when you're playing a guy at the 3 rather than the 1 or 2.

also the scoring aspect is nice, but again on this particular team there is only 1 ball on the court at a time and only so many shots to go around.  #2 is going to get a lot more chances to score coming off the bench than he is as a 3rd option behind flinn and creasy.

i put this out there to get some different points of view, and i certainly do believe that there is a legit case for #2 to be the guy, but i dont think it's nearly as obvious as you have implied

you are playing triangle/zone, where fatigue has the smallest impact. you simply cant afford to use that play the offensive guy as backup strategy in zone defense, if hes the better guy. i have been all for that strategy when its like a 22/18 minutes split type situation, especially at the 1/2 with a great per shooter. but in this case, jeff is right, there is little to no question about it - start #2.

well, thats over #3... i could honestly see the argument for #1 better than #3. the only thing #2 has against him is defense, but hes the best player overall. if you had poor perimeter shooting, which you dont (it sounds like at least, i didnt check the team - if that lead scorer is a lp guard not a per guard, you still might want to play #1), then id actually go with #1 to shore up my 3pta figure. but assuming that is not the case, #2 is a LOT better on offense and hes got the iq and bh over #3, its just too much.

note that i am not taking into account if any of these players are useful at any position but the 3. if you like, have a great use for someone somewhere else, that could totally change the problem. i just took it from the standpoint, these 3 players will make up the time at the 3, or do nothing, who starts?

Im playing w target minutes and not fatigue....

considering d2 ratings of 70 are somewhat average id still think that your 1 and 2 guys you listed are a bit better backup options at the 2.  3 seems to just be a well rounded player who doesnt have good enough ball handling or passing to be a 1 or 2 yet still has enough speed to be flexible at the 3.

regardless, you are wasting you minutes of your better players if you are not playing your starters at LEAST at comparable minutes to a fairly fresh zone/triangle player, which should be at least 30m or so, assuming solid stamina. high sta guys maybe closer to 35, and maybe some crappy (70) sta guys in the mid to upper 20s...

if you need a scoring guy to be a scoring option, then yes you're right.  but having a scoring guy who is a weaker defender just standing around not taking shots for 30-35 minutes a game is going to be less effective than having him out there for 20 minutes a game where he can mostly be a scorer because one or both of the other primary scorers are on the bench.

i dont think you can just automatically plug your best guys into a starting lineup and call it a day...there has to be some thought given to the roles that they are going to fill.

Sometimes its about what your starting lineup needs rather than who is the better player.  If you already have several scoring options and you swap one out for say, someone who can rebound and defend, you might end up better even if the other player is better overall.
