The question is what's really worth more WE: starting and playing 10 minutes or coming off the bench and playing 30? If I were you, Yanks, whenever I start my all scrubs to get them minutes I'd make sure to turn off the put in backups if winning/losing options.
i was hoping the start in and of itself would have some good value for the work ethic. but i was clearly trying to run up the score on purpose as psb said earlier

I suggested an idea like this as an actual strategy once with a slightly different focus looking to see if anyone had ever tried it and with any success. The premise being get the most athletic/speed/def players to be your starters, and then have pure scorers as backups (obviously if you can find a complete package player, then do it). The idea would be to limit the ability of the other team's starters, maybe even draw some fouls, essentially trying to keep the score low. then once your pure elite scoring backups come in against the opposing team's lesser defenders, they should dominate and score more efficiently without their lack of defense being as much of a liability.

One of these days, I may actually try it out.

bistiza, I have played above D3 a grand total of 8 of my 79 seasons (or 7, not sure what counts, but the current Queens season is my 8th), and all of those are D2.  I'm not putting D1 expectations on players.  In general in D3 I would try to limit the 3 pt attempts for a 63 PER player.
ah. this totally explains the otherwise inexplicable move you put on that big in d2 phelan the recruiting season before last. i never realized that you were a basically d3 only coach, good to know! on an unrelated note, you should seriously try d1 some day.
Inexplicable move on a big that I won...  Just saying...  And if you'd fought me for him it would have been very, very close.  To be totally honest with you, I couldn't determine with certainty who would win, but it was close enough that I decided to go for it.

I have virtually no interest whatsoever in playing D1 at this point.

If you'd be upset by it your too sensitive.

Anyone else bothered by how well Emery is shooting the 3-ball with 63 PER?
He's shooting like 42.4% for the season after last nights 5 for 12.

There used to be a coach named Plumpy back in the very early days of HD.  He basically used the same strategy, defense minded guys start and offensive studs come in against the other team's reserves.  He won several titles before he retired.

It's a semi-interesting strategy, but I think it would end up being countered and rendered ineffective fairly quickly.

if i fought u i would have had 0 chance, due to me having only 1 scholarship of money. if i had the full money, as you anticipated, you actually would never have had a chance (although i can see how you could think it was close, and by some standards, it would have been). im not upset or anything in that ballpark, and hope i didn't come across that way! nor do i have any problem with your move. really, the reason the move surprised me is i thought of you as a long time coach with d1 experience, and no d1 long time coach i know would have based his decision to battle on what you told me... seeing the high investment in a single player, extrapolating similar investments elsewhere... its just madness! theres just some battle hardened mentality i assume from coaches i assume went through d1, and well, got battle hardened. pure d2/d3 coaches dont have it, and its not a knock on them (or you or anyone). its just the reality - if i knew you were a d2/d3 coach, i wouldnt have blinked. if i saw emy pull the same move on me over in d2 tark, for example, (picked him because he just posted), my jaw would drop. thats all it is, nothing more, and there are no negative feelings on my end whatsoever...

63 PER with 90 speed, 98 stamina...man that guy would be a player of the year nationally. That's a dream guard for D3, especially with press (or) fastbreak
