Poaching a conferencemate Topic

I try very hard to avoid it - I dont think it is in my interest to do so in 99% of the cases where it would be possible.

Now, I dont mean a battle early in recruiting - even there I try to avoid those also and will try hard to stay out of the way of conference mates of roughly equal prestige - usually there is another recruiting option.

Better to fight battles and if absolutely necessary poach against teams from other conferences

This topic is so subjective you'll get a many different answers to this. Bottom line, your responsibility is to your team. If it will make my team better and I think I can end up with the player, yes I will do it. But, to me the term poaching is a method of cooking or a violation concerning an endangered species. I call it recruiting to the best of my ability.

I feel the same exact way.  Early on, I'll have no problem at all battling.  But, as you said, there are usually equal options elsewhere.  But I'd never hop on a conference team's player late.

I think most people are missing the concept of the question. A lot of people seem to be taking it as battling a conference mate for a recruit which is fine. I think OP means saving your money specifically to look for who is weak near signing day and then coming in late once everyone has spread themselves thin (hence the poaching, which by definition does not exist in this game the way people are applying it). In that case, I don't do that. If I wanted the recruit from the beginning, I go after him from the beginning. That's not to say I won't come in late on a recruit and battle a conference mate for him if he is a good recruit and I can't avoid the battle (dropdowns is a perfect example), but I don't intentionally sit back to see who will be easy to pick off so I can take advantage.
