Using my situation as a proxy, I play in 6 worlds (plus one as a replacement owner).  Two of the six have been sitting with no progress for a month.  I can ditch the two worlds, move to two worlds that roll over faster, and start over from the bottom with two new teams, but I have history with the old worlds and I am not that keen on starting over.  So I am 33% inactive with the product and WIS is getting 33% less of my money.

Fast forward 4 months.  To football season.  When WIS really can't recruit.  If nothing is done to improve the product, my 2 inactive worlds may just get worse, and 2 other worlds may become just as bad.  Meaning that I am 66% inactive and WIS is getting 66% less of my money.  Being completely inactive is not that far away then.

Using my situation as a proxy, I play in 4 worlds.    2 roll on same day, one took a few days because someone bailed at the last minute and one is a public world that actually rolled pretty quickly.

So, in my little HBD world, there is no problem.

Individual situations aren't relative to the big picture.

19% of worlds are currently inactive.  1 in 5.  But the 2 guys that post on the forums are happy so move along, nothing to see here.

Well, I didn't say that.    I said "Individual situations aren't relative to the big picture" and pointed out that my experience is completely different than yours.

Earlier today, I pointed out some improvements I think would be good.   I also pointed out that I don't think there's an untapped customer base that just can't find this game.   All the improvements in the world won't draw in someone who has no desire to run a fake baseball organization on a simsite.

Be honest with yourself.  How many people do you know well enough to talk about a simsports game?   I'll put my number at 20.   Would you like to guess how many of them have any desire to play this game?   I'll tell you.   None.

Wow, 19% inactive is poor, by any metrics.  If nothing else some cosmetic changes will appease enough people to stop this message board (biggest for of promotion for game I'm guessing) from being a bad selling point for the product.

Im confused Fox owns the site but there is a MSN privacy link on bottom of the screen next to a Microsoft copyright, above this fine print: "SimLeague, SimMatchup and iSimNow are trademarks or registered trademarks of Electronic Arts, Inc. Used under license. ."

maybe we need to direct comments somewhere else!

The advanced roster management option would be beneficial for noobies. It's an old system that sucks major ***

One thing that is curious is that Hoops Dynasty seems to be updated regularly.  According to the "release notes" page, they've had seven minor updates over the past month.  Seems to be very minor cosmetic changes, but it is activity.

So it makes one wonder why HD seems to be getting constant attention while HBD is being completed ignored.  Is HD really that much more of a money maker than is HBD?

Could be as simple as having a HD developer on staff.    Or the complexity of the HBD code.

That's the guy doing the updates.

I actually think there is a pretty big potential customer base out there for this game. There are a lot of baseball stat nerds on the Internet, and the number is growing. Does HBD advertise on Fangraphs or Baseball Reference? If not, they should.

How did you find the site?

81% of worlds are active. But someone throws up a "the world is ending" thread every two weeks even though it doesn't change anything, so I guess we should care every single time one is posted.

FWIW, if I stumbled on this site and saw nothing but doom and gloom, I wouldn't sign up.

I played the sim league baseball game about 6 years ago a couple times. Out of the blue, I decided to play another season last fall. While I was there I saw the hbd link and signed up. I honestly don't remember how I found WhatIfSports in the first place. But I don't recall seein ads for it anywhere.
