YEs they did replace a team, but I can't remember what team it was. Maybe some one else does. It was a team that did not fit in the CCAA geographically

Texas-Pan American was moved to San Diego several seasons ago. There might have been a couple of other school moves as well but I can't remember. There also were certain name changes in an attempt to keep somewhat current. For example, Columbia Union became Washington Adventist.

I'm not sure there is a point to realigning. Schools change divisions and/or conferences every year. Keeping DI up to date would tear up DII/DIII alignment and create tremendous chaos at those levels. I agree with those coaches who say it can only happen if a new world is created.

There are other name changes that need to be made.  I've alerted WIS about them but they've decided not to change them. For instance, in DIII,  Philadelphia Biblical is now Cairn Univ.
Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee have both dropped the 'Wisconsin' and are now, simply, Green Bay and Milwaukee.

Interesting with npb's realignment, he dismantled the Summit Conference and disbursed their teams elsewhere.  The only glaring geographical issues are with the three Dakota schools and Nebraska-Omaha in the Atlantic Sun.  Also, Western Illinois in the SWAC.

I tried to move them elsewhere but my attempts weren't much better.   I think I ended up with the Dakota schools and Notre Dame in the Missouri Valley.  But I still ended up with Midwestern schools  IUPUI and IU-Ft. Wayne in the Atlantic Sun.  That's a little better than placing the Dakota schools there since the nearest Atlantic Sun school is Northern Kentucky, located in a Cincinnati suburb.

Nonetheless, he did a GREAT job!

Why do conferences have to all the same number of teams? I really can't think of a reason. The big 15 or 16 team conferences are just that. You can still have divisions they'd just be larger and you wouldn't necessrily play your division twice. I think some change would be good for HD. I don't agree with booting coaches out of their programs or in combining worlds. I certainly don't think we need an 11th world. But some major change and coaches and their programs in new conferences might spice things up.

I'm not a programmer but I suspect it'd be more difficult to program with uneven conferences.

I recently read an article about D1 teams.  Teams in smaller conferences have to cram their non-conf schedule with too many games because, once conference play begins, noone will play them.    I live 2 miles from No. Kentucky Univ., which is in the 8-team Atlantic Sun.    In non-conf play, they played 3 games in 5 days. Another stretch was 4 games in 8 days.   Due to lack of available opponents, they played home-and-away against Idaho, 1700 miles away
