Skunk your comments are helpful. The context of the league is important and certainly the Back To The Future league had a lot of limitations and interesting possibilities too. I'd love to have more theme leagues pop up like this one. I've been racking my brain of another movie or show or something...perhaps just taking three random seasons with 5 players each and a few oddball names etc would work. I enjoyed that draft a lot.

Oz. Certainly I understood your question. It's interesting trying to figure out WHY sparky chose the lineup. I often wonder about that myself. Certainly we got some good answers about that. The thread organically took on recommendations from users so I piped in with that and my reasoning. I hope I didn't offend you in any way. I enjoy discussing the game and strategy with people like yourself who obviously put a lot of thought into it.

I see that Gordon is performing well early on in the league. The ballpark you chose probably was a reason why you drafted Gordon. Also 2015 hitters should normalize very well...better than the pitchers will I think....and I think their performance may even outdo their normalization...and I have a hunch the 2015 pitchers will NOT perform as well as their normalization. But I know so well that I could be completely wrong.

I went with Hank Aaron at second base. If you look at my team in that league, I decided to go with HR power. I enjoy doing that. I get bored of singles/doubles hitters because that's what typically works in these leagues. I'm using the Kingdome. I'll probably get my *** handed to me in the league...but my figuring was that a lot of guys would use the 2015 pitchers like Greinke, Arrieta and Kershaw and those guys may give up 20-25 HRs. I'm probably way off....but if I can use the HR I do so. Just fun for me.

GL to you in that league OZ....Skunk....I'd wish you good luck but you don't need it. I expect you're lucky in life as well as in Sim and luck is often the result of good wits. :-)

No offense taken at all, my apologies if my response came off as such. Discussing strategy is one of my favorite parts of this site/game!

Also I agree with you about the 2015 pitchers. I am using Arrieta in a few leagues as well as Greinke and neither are dominating in most cases.

Ha, I didn't even check to see you were in the Back to the Future league too, cwillis, so you know exactly what limitations we had.  I've had very good performances out of Arrieta so far, even up to $150M.  Greinke is definitely a step behind, due to the higher HR/9.

I set it

1. Ashburn
2. Boggs
3. Wagner
4. Brouthers
5. McGee
6. Raines
7. Posey
8. Gordon

Since Posey's OBP is low and his HRs won't help much in the -4/-4 confines of Municipal Stadium.
I agree.

Late in the season (in a push to get home field throughout the playoffs) I moved Raines and Dilone to 1 and 2, respectively. Not counting our AAA player, the 7 starters sat out a combined 26 games (due to auto rest settings).
What did your pitching look like?

be careful with Boggs in the two hole. He has 56 speed and a .907 contact rate. He will ground into a lot of DPs.

Team ended up winning the division with 92 wins and losing in the LCS.

As for the pitching on that OL team, I don't remember
