Man that stewdog is such a slacker... he has one guy under 90 ATH. Come on, couldn't you find someone better?
In all seriousness though, those runs are incredible. Really impressive stuff!
Nice,,,
I actually recruited him on purpose over a five star because I knew with his speed, per, bh/pass, he would actually be a good four year backup pg with my press that could contribute and would not go NBA early. He wouldn't work in a man D. My weaknesses often have to do with iq and losing too many ee's so to compensate, I started intentionally going after one-two roster spots of four year guys. It has worked well.
One more thing...
I do NOT go for guys based on rankings or stars.
I intentionally go for guys based on particular need, fit, and ability in a few key areas. Ie- I always want x number of functional pg's on the roster, x number of per shooters at all times, rebound/ defense guys, lp scorers, people to develop to take these guys places, etc.
I have a formula down for what I want and the longevity of winning is because I had to be intentional with ee's and roster spots and needs.
I regularly pass higher ranked players for lesser players who fit my need/ system better.
Recent recruiting example- I could likely have gotten around (four of ) 12 of the top 28 guys, I intentionally passed on 5 top-ten guys on purpose (I got 3 in the teens, so it's not crap I'm getting) and even intentionally got a #50 something with higher ranked guys close by.
Why? I dnot use small forwards as much as other positions... I needed two perimeter scorers.... I needed one four year guy who could contribute as a backup pg with a high iq, I didn't like the number one SG in my backyard as much as I liked the #3 in an area I could get, and I didn't want to compete with cinference mates for a similar player I could get competing against a different conference.
It is more than a formula for me to keep it sustainable, it takes roster flexibility (matchups are huge is post season), types of players, and admittedly lots of luck.
Btw- thanks for the props, gill. No one in real life cares about this stuff!!! Especially my wife!
