It dépends on your goal. Do you want to move up at D1? If so, go to DII asap. Choose a program where you know you can recruit and, if it is possible, get one that was human owned. At DII, you will need to win consistently so be prepared to remain there 6 to 10 seasons before making the jump to D1.
If you do not care about D1, I suggest you remain at D3 until you get some winning seasons. But you can learn from D3 or D2, not a big difference. D3 is more location oriented, D2 is more about getting the right mix of players in and having a team philosophy.
I want to move up to division 1 but I want to build Chowan to a winning program. Also get my Loyality to a A+ home court to a C+ and perstige A+ not realistic I looked at the history and it says B+ was the highest it ever got. Also I might put in this as one of my goals. Be the longest tenured at Chowan in Allen world 6. If I accomplish all that will I be a favorite for a division 1 job?
Right now I see a long road to making Chowan a winning program, you are in a tough conference and the freshman and sophomores that you have are not on the level that will allow you to compete with them, Mickenly is the one young player I see that looks solid, but that's depending on how much his passing and BH will improve. In order to have a chance of getting a winning season you need to schedule 10 easy wins in non conf. Home Court is not something to focus on, I don't even pay attention to that, playing at home gives you a slight advantage. I'm not even sure there is anything more than a small decimal improvement between like a C- and a C. Playing a lot of home games also hurts your RPI, so you should be scheduling 10 easy road non conf games against sims that are in easy conferences that have a chance to get 20+ wins to help your RPI. In order to be the longest tenured coach you would have to stay like 15 seasons, that will be brutal if you spend those 15 seasons in a monster conference without fully understanding how to play the game. I have heard you say you have a mentor multiple times, ask him to help walk you through recruiting, to help you find good players that will help you succeed, if he isn't up to that site mail me and I will help you. I know what it's like to be a new player in a tough conference, my Rutgers at Newark team in wooden is in a tough NJAC conference, I have made some mistakes recruiting there but generally I feel I just get outcoached. I have seen posts in the coaches corner saying they forgot to recruit, or they started recruiting with 10 mins left in the period, but then they beat me in the season, and I end up with a low seed in the NT and lose in the first round.
Your goals should be 1. Get good players, if you need a discription of that just ask. 2. Try not to recruit players that are so bad you have to cut them, that hurts your reputation and makes it more seasons until you can move up to D2, also try not to break promises, it kills a player. 3. Get 10 wins in non conf consistantly 4. Beat all of the sims in your conference all of the time. 5. Scrounge up a win or two against a human in conference. 6. Get to the PI. 7. After you have done all of what's stated previously you should have a shot at getting to the NT. 7. Win games in the NT.
Im currently working on step 7 ;)
