Should we have something like...? Topic

correct me if i'm wrong but my understanding is that the teams are just listed in alphabetical order within the interest range. coin flip is really a misnomber, wish that expression would die on here--it is a probability you influence based on the total amount of effort multiplied somehow by prestige, preferences, promises, etc. THAT SAID, knowing you were #1 or #2 between 2 VH teams wouldn't be particularly helpful information, because if you were in the same interest band, your chances would actually be about 50/50 (or 51/49 or some such). does knowing you have a 2% more chance to land a player really matter? beyond that, i think it's been pretty well documented what the ballpark chances are, and does knowing you lost by a few extra % odds really matter?
Fair point, hippo. I assumed the amount of effort had to factor in somewhere.

i do get wanting to know the odds...i lost a VH to H last recruiting and it's frustrating...but at the same time, what am i going to do with that information? i'm just gonna sulk for a day then get over it, hah

Given this particularly talented recruit and ratio at which he will immediately impact my team, and given the size of the kitchen sink I'm throwing at him, I'll be sulking until Thanksgiving. Minimum.

It tells you that maybe the CV cap should be 2 and the Hv cap should be higher... It seems with all the caps, when you reach B to a+ it will all finish in a toss-up if your preferences are good. I am not sure these caps, even ap helps the game.

i don't think it tells me that at all. this doesn't make sense to me. if the caps were higher, why would the result change? people would still go "all in" and you'd be in the same spot with more effort thrown in on both sides for most of these situations. if the point was to encourage battles, HD3 is accomplishing that to a greater degree. it just seems like you've had some bad luck. i don't see how your proposal changes your luck.

Yeah, I remember people lamenting the coin flip aspect when 3.0 was first rolled out. So, just to be clear, it doesn't matter how much money I spend on the recruit? If multiple teams are tied on the interest level and with a scholarship, it's a toss up?
Yes
No.

Within a level of interest there can be quite a bit of variation. Not all are "tied." If the recruit is important enough to you and you don't have a backup (you always should), then invest some more recruiting effort to drive your opponents to lower levels of interest.

...WOTS in 2.0? Not sure if this has already been addressed. But in battles where multiple teams are VH or H, should we have something that at least gives us an idea where our team falls within the battle?
We asked Seble for an email after the recruit signs telling us the % chance we had to sign him. He thought it was too much information because his goal was to keep us all in the dark.
ROFLMAO. And here's a hot offer for anyone who actually believes Seble said that: I have some lovely oceanfront property for sale at a verrry reasonable price.

Oh, did I mention it is in Kansas?

Yup he said he was hesitant to give away too much information. Same idea about how much an AP is worth and he said he didnt want to share this info. He wanted to keep some ambiguity in the recruiting process.

Bath: it's random, maths, the more options you have, the less predictability the outcome will be. Caps take away options. It does protect teams with few schollies but at the same time, if bad luck is in anobody's side, you need options. Right now, in D1, you have none.
