There's still an advantage in being in a strong conference, because that is a preference of some recruits, so it is good if the conference you are in is full.
Sure, but that's a tiny advantage for some people.
There is definitely a huge disadvantage now to being in the middle of the ACC, with how close high prestige Duke, NC, NC St, Wake, VA, VaTech, Clemson, etc are to each other. Same for many big east schools. I predict Big 12 and 10 will greatly improve as they're not quite as concentrated high prestige and smaller schools in random conferences that aren't near A prestige schools will be hidden gems.

Well said. I think what you are seeing shows that D2 is in the same boat. Be away from top D1 school and you will rock. I have Pfeiffer in IBA and it's hell... I had to scramble to be able to get a class that actually can play. It could be a recruit generation problem again...

And strong conf preference is countered by strong defense and team success. Both of which are easier to achieve against weaker competiton.

"...being in the middle of the ACC, with how close high prestige Duke, NC, NC St, Wake, VA, VaTech, Clemson, etc are to each other. Same for many big east schools..."

Is that different from HD2.0? They didn't change geography as far as I know.

As you know, a host of factors that affected such schools were changed - including, post season $ gone, effect of distance reduced, and others.

But you knew that. And surely you knew that historically those variables were key to the experience in conferences like the ACC and Big East

You assume too much from someone who hasn't sniffed a post season win yet. Both somehow "knows everything".

What's the overall exodus looking like at this point?

Hmm, I always heard that the "key to the experience" in those conferences was the friendly camaraderie among the coaches, and the post season cash was just gravy. At any rate, I am quite certain that each of those schools is located in 3.0 just where they were in 2.0.

You wouldnt know a "key to experience" if you tripped over it...unless you begged WIS to change it so that it would smack you in the face.

WIS has a serious problem! I myself have no problem with the new engine, but it seems alot of people do, and its starting to affect the power conferences!(To Each their own) The problem to me isnt that people are leaving, the problem is that power schools are being vacated and the job criteria hasnt changed! In no circumstance should this game ever be dominated by mid majors and low D1, and based on the exodus, thats the trend that this thing is headed! With more SIM power schools, that means more Mids will gobble up elite players in affect making the mids the new powers! If I build Akron into a Power, what incentive is there for me to leave for Duke which is now sitting at a C- Prestige with Junk for players? None!!

WIS must change the criteria allowing these major schools to stay filled with humans or this game is about to get flipped upside down!
Because Duke has an A+ baseline prestige. Therefore they will go to A+ much easier and stay there with much lower wins or tournament wins.
