LOL. "Why is the introduction price so high"

It's less than .25 per day. You think too many people ghost out before their first season ends? Make it ten cents a day and people will quit before the season even starts.
I know you like your per day costs Mike. You sound like a UNICEF commercial.

You know that it's just a ploy to get you to think you're paying less money than you really are right? I hope you're not that gullible in all your financial decisions.
Why would putting the price in that kind of perspective be a problem?

It's basically 1/8 the cost of a large coffee from Starbucks.

Or . . . one large Starbucks coffee = 1 week of HD.

I think they can triple even quadruple number of users if it's advertised, if they care enough about the game also. The problem right now is that they do not care about it and don't fix little things that would make a world of difference. Basketball is worldwide. Be involved WIS. Don't tell us your 3.0 is done, you let it go to see if there are problems... Some need fixing now, it's not like you need to monitor everything. The 10 teams list, fix it. Downtime, fix it. Not able to recruit when you buy a team or you get back to the game by reserving a team, fix this. No need to monitor mistakes.

No, it's a fact. This is about the cheapest diversion, other than free porn, from the real world on the internet.

If cost is an actual factor in why there aren't hundreds of thousands flocking to HD, those folks need to find a better job rather than screw around on the internet.

Ya' feel me?
dude there are the thousands of apps and games on the internet that are free.

When I'm out grocery shopping and I see a $7 bag of chips I say, "WOW what a great deal! Only 3 cents per chip!"

I'll repeat it again Mike since you missed it

The payment system they have installed for HD is backwards. You don't get someone hooked on a product and then start giving it to them for free. You want your new customers to be eased into paying for it while the long time customers are footing the majority of the bill.

That's how it works on tons of products and services. Sign up with new phone carrier, get a new phone. Change to a different internet and tv provider - get a reduced promotional price for a year.

If it's a marketing issue why do so many people play one season and quit? Because it takes too much effort.

A better definition of niche in this context, as an adjective: "denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population".

This is a niche game. The target market is the cross section of sports fans, stat/management geeks, and sim gamers. It's not analogous to Fantasy Football, or to live action games, because there is no game to watch. They're looking for the guys who read about, and maybe obsessively follow, but don't necessarily watch sports. The guys who would rather be general manager than QB or coach.

That's not to say there is no room for growth. Of course there is. But it's got a ceiling, and that ceiling is a tiny fraction of fantasy football or EASports games on Xbox.

I'm not on FOXSports' board (and neither is Benis, I'm pretty certain) so I don't know where they believe their niche target market size and room for growth is. I do know if they swallowed the line that the previous owners fed everyone in that dev chat, about how advertising was their biggest obstacle to growth, they were suckers.

The Wire is the best TV series in history, everyone on the internet says so. But not many people watched it. Weird, right? because people seemed to like CSI well enough. So probably the writers and producers of The Wire should have made their show more like CSI. So more people would have watched it. Right.

I agree it's more than marketing. It's a gameplay issue too, for sure.

This goes back to my whole - it's not the concept it's the execution argument. The game is not set up to draw people in and keep them. It doesn't have anything to do with it being a sim game.

Horrible analogy.

Even if it weren't for the fact that The Wire was on HBO and not on basic TV (think maybe that's why more people didn't watch it? DURRR), it'd still be a horrible analogy.

btw, my gf is obsessed with The Wire. She named her cat after the main dude.

Why do you suppose fewer people watch HBO? Because they don't like boobs?

Well since it's such a bad analogy, it can't be because people typically need to pay extra for it. Or because its programming is geared toward a different kind of audience than the one that is sufficiently entertained with network programming. So just curious how you explain it.
