THE best coach in HD?? Topic

Jsajsa was the best DIII coach ever. He stopped playing when they rolled out 3.0.

OR, LM2, and Rails. Of course LM2 and Rails dont play anymore.
indy, are you talking about lostmyth when you say LM2? That guy must have knocked me out of the E8/F4 half a dozen times in DII and DIII when 1.0 was still the game at hand. That dude was awesome.

**UPDATED** 5/24/2018
Almost 10.8 million games coached.
The All-Time spreadsheet only includes coaches with 2000+ wins, or 100 seasons
Active Coaches list only includes coaches with 1000+ wins or 50 seasons.

Excuse you....I have 1,032 wins in 49 seasons. PUT ME ON THIS LIST! lol

Interesting to see who I lead and who I am behind. Surprised at my average of 21.9 wins per season.

Not a fan of using total wins as a barometer as it favors average coaches who had 5-10+ teams vs. great coaches with 1-2 teams. There are some guys in the top 100 there that are trash as a coach while someone like davis was far down the list.

A great coach is someone you go : damn I wish I was facing someone else. There are coaches you seem to struggle against as others struggle the same. I normally don't mind facing anybody. The coaches who have my number : Chapel (i dunno how to beat his Maryland team). ggallagh (he beat me three times, two in the final game, one in the final four and he cost me probably two nts with his coaching). Phalla in D2, always a pain.., Teamvip : a pain for everyone... Jsajsa in Naismith D3, all fun games but I think I only have one win to show for..

I would like to be proactive and remove my name from consideration before it's even brought into the conversation.

Thanks.

I have to second the Teamvip nomination even if I'm a little biased being in his conference. Dude only has one team (D2 Iba), 7 NTs (one stretch of 5 in 7), 1 runner-up, 2 more final fours, 3 more elite 8s, and a sweet 16...that's his resume over the past 14 seasons. On the odd years when his talent is not overwhelming, his anticipation in game-planning is absolutely ridiculous. Also, 4th all-time in chapelhillne's new list of championships per seasons played.

That is an excellent criteria. Those coaches for me in no particular order:

bunkerbuster - now retired but he was a beast in D3 Iba with his UT Dallas teams
shaf5576
qb4usf

I usually feel pretty confident in my game plans but against those guys I never feel like it's good enough.

Best D2 coaches in my opinion are Arfy, Snewell, dcy, cjwolf (I only play D2). A few others are close...
7/2/2018 4:30 PM
Arfy is a beast at U of DC, he won 6 of 10.

I just logged in and it shows “Recent Championships” in Tark. D1 - Piman, D2 - TrentonJoe, D3 - MonsterTurtl. Not a bad 1-2-3 punch there.

Right now vs. all-time are definitely two different questions.

If we're talking all-time greats, it's definitely Oldresorter, Lostmyth (probably #1 in my book), Gillespie, aejones, and jsa. Not sure you'll be able to talk me out of that Top 5.

As for right now, you've probably got pbuddhagamer, joeykw, Arfy, piman (probably tops right now), and...do we count 0nly? He's at least "recent".
