If you're thinking about doing this at Virginia in Allen, you may have a case study right next door. I've been coaching press as a secondary for the last couple years, waiting for Jordan (and and his maxed out 49 DEF rating) to graduate before mixing it in more. Running full press in our opener just to see how bad it would be likely cost me a spot in the tournament, but I still want to mix it in as a press/zone in spots despite my team's speed deficiency.

Hey Dunham... yeah, I was thinking about doing this on my Virginia team. I couldn't find many recruits that fit my system AND had good stamina ratings. Also, I'm only going to have 4 big men next season, which is sub-optimal for the press defense. I hadn't even noticed your team's IQ, but it looks like we might be experimenting together.

I run the Press/Zone combination with 3 of my teams. I have won 2 somewhat recent National Championships with it (Washington in Wooden) and I typically have the most team improvement in my conference. My Maryland team in Rupp is a good example of the lack of impact it has on team improvement. I play press/zone and my team improved an average of 49 points on the season, the next closest team improved 38. Running combo defense in HD 2.0 may have cost you improvement points, but it does not have a significant impact in HD 3.0.

That Maryland team also has 5 players with work ethic below 50.

Disregard the above as I may not be able to be a guinea pig for you. I thought I had already renewed, but now find that I hadn't, and that I'm no longer qualified for the Florida State job somehow. Applied anyway and will see how it goes.

I'm a M2M coach through and through, but my father loves running press/zone combo, and one advantage he really likes is a bigger net of recruits you can have a Good preference for defense.
