I know this will be a very unpopular opinion, but this is why this game sucks to me. Any game should never tell players the inner workings of it. Sending a ticket for every stupid thing is in itself stupid. Play the game and face consequences when they happen to you. Again, just a nobody opinion.
I hear you on keeping the secret sauce secret for some of the behind the scenes algorithms - but two things:
1) if it is "random" it seems fair to let players know that...it's not like players can then "game" the randomness. If there's no identifiable feature that tells you whether a player has an 80% vs a 95% threshold there's literally no harm in mentioning that.
2) If it's not random and it fluctuates around 80-85% and that is the expected behavior communicated to the community, it does help CS/the game developers learn when something is wrong with the game...

Of the two options above, honestly option 1 makes more sense. It's a little more "unfair" but as we've noted in other threads, promises are too easy to give out at this point and it would be a welcome change to the game to make them more challenging by applying a randomness threshold to expectations around promise keeping and by extending the expectations into the CT and post-season.

Also - one other point on the general idea behind keeping the inner workings secret: there are some Nate Silver-level statisticians as well as other computer scientists, data scientists, game developers, etc. playing this game. It's inevitable that some of them can deduce some of the inner workings given enough data. It's fairer to the community when this info is shared rather than hoarded - but I do believe there is a line to not be crossed (i.e. if someone discovers a very specific formula that guarantees a win in every game, they should probably share that with the developers rather than keep it to themselves or share it with everyone).
As someone who promises starts and minutes a lot, knowing that when it gets to the CT and NT I no longer have to honor them, I would actually be in favor of the promises carrying over into the post season as well. Seems like it would be more realistic, and it would also make promises not quite as valuable. There are times when I have faced a #11 seed that really should be like a 3, but they had a bad record during the season because of the starts. Just my two cents worth.
