I do wish I had a few more IPs now that I read the avg WHIP last season was 1.69.. And I'm in Municipal (Maybe should have taken Astrodome or PacBell)...
When 2000 Pedro was still on the board when I picked in the 1st round, I pretty much decided I was going to play in Target.
I checked the DEP2 draft board and Target wasn't even selected. Surely, I'd be able to snag my stadium of choice in the 20th round.
I decided to keep selecting low OAV/ low WHIP pitchers that may gibe up a few solo shots with Arrieta, Greinke, Sale, & '17 Kimbrel (easily the best RP available at the time)
Drafting the offense went fairly well. I have 4 guys that walk over 100 times/162G (1 of those guys will only get about half of his RL PAs though) and I my team BA should be among the top 3-5 in the league. I should also hit quite a lot of doubles. I even should be able to hit enough HRs on the road to compete.
What do you know? After going undrafted in DEP2, Target was the 1st stadium off the board in DEP3... Of course, it was....
I did a quick comparison of Astrodome, Municipal, & PacBell and went with Municipal. I didn't want the dome bc I didn't want to hinder my team's ability to hit lots of singles. I picked Municipal over PacBell for the extra -1 in the HR factors. I need to protect my pitching staff as much as I can in that respect.
I still believe I have enough IPs to make it through the season without suffering too much fatigue, but I do wish I had 1 more arm to throw multiple innings on the staff. I could definitely run into issues if I don't manage my pitch counts correctly.
My goal (after Pedro was on the board) was to draft a low OAV/ Low WHIP staff and a high batting avg offense.... and i kinda did that.. We'll see if it works.
