In a conversation I had with Adam it was mentioned that firings are about 2-3 months out but they are coming. I am sure that I may be a guinea pig for it. I hated it last time not bc I got fired - but because I had no chance to get a mid major after working a while to get to a big 6. That part seems to have solved itself.
I'm definitely going to be a case study for this too. I just picked up an Illinois team in Phelan sitting at a C+ with 4 walk-ons and a bunch of crap sim recruits. I honestly doubt this team will even win a game this year. Making an NT in 4-5 seasons could even be a stretch, but with an A+ baseline, I feel like the expectation will probably be higher.
Increasing firings only makes sense if it’s based on the prestige of the program at the point of coach change, rather than baseline. And even then, it only makes sense if you’re given a good long time to get your own recruits in the door.
Relegation and promotion makes so much more sense than firing in a game like this. Keep the job, (thereby keeping the players you recruit, and their history), but your school is moved up and down the conference ladder based on performance. Forcibly separating folks from a program they’ve built or are trying to build is basically telling them you don’t want their money. What’s the point?
