Six games in the books and I've yet to have an above-.500 round yet. The best I've done is have my teams finish 10-10 - ONCE. Every one of the other five rounds has been 8 wins or less (we're talking 20 teams here, folks).

I only have 6 teams, but I did get a schwarze already. Not sure what language applies with 20 teams, but I hope you get a few 15-16 win days in there soon.

I also have 20 teams. Not complaining because most of my sessions are 11-9, 12-8 or 13-7. I have noticed an extraordinary number of 1-run (or extra inning) games. I guess there are so many similar rosters, that should not be unexpected. (I've been on the lucky side so far 22-17 in 1-run games).

In the 5th set of games (i.e., 7/23 pm), my 15 teams went a combined 2-13! UGH!

My Yankees team is 1-7 after 8 games and they haven't played any of the Ruth/Gehrig teams yet. My Tigers team is 2-6, but they've lost to '94 or '95 Greg Maddux 4 times. So, they're actually 2-2 in games started by any opposing pitcher other than Greg Maddux.

It took until the 9th round of games to finally have an 11-9 round. Hopefully a sign that things are moving in the right direction.

Overall, I have five teams playing above .500.................and FIFTEEN teams playing below .500. Pathetic.

I know, I know - it's early.

5 of my 6 teams are 8-5 or better ... and only one is in 1st place. Some brutal divisions in here.

I also noticed that a large number of my teams are in divisions where all four teams are over .500. I think this should not be surprising given the theme rules and alignment rules. In many cases, one division will contain four teams with four very similar rosters.

Yes, true. At least it’s easy enough for all the teams to advance to Round 2, though.

I'm not exactly sure what this means, but it my roster "match" score is the highest (or close to it) in every league. I know it means that I didn't take an outlier year. It also probably means that there are obvious selections in my years range that those teams on either side of me also found...

So I have 9 teams where the match score is the highest (or tied for the highest) for the respective franchise and three other teams that are 1-2 players off from being the highest. I didn't list all my teams. For those teams not listed, they mostly have match scores 1-3 points less than the team I listed, so still close to the max (i.e., my 1952-81 Yankees team has a 17 match score with mllama54's 1954-84 team, which is tied for the second highest score in league 1).

It will be interesting to see how teams with similar rosters compare to each other at the end of the season.

Through 38 games... let's compare my teams from this previous post with the team that is closest in roster similarity... I am showing W-L record as well as Expected Winning% in order to get the full picture.

At first glance, it appears that the Giants and Cardinals seem out of whack.

With the Giants, it's easy to see why there is a difference. My best player is 1908 Christy Mathewson. He is 8-3, 2.34 ERA. That's a big piece to be missing.

With the Cardinals, I've already documented the woes of my 48-00 Cardinals, i.e., huge underperformances by '48 Musial and '68 Gibson compared to other teams.

Also, I am having much better luck with my Braves team (6-1 in 1-run games) than DarthDurron (3-6). And my Reds team looks to be around a .500 team.

Most of the other results seem all within reason. I guess I should expect a long season with my Pirates team

Others can use the results on page 1, find the similar teams to theirs and easily perform the same type of analysis.

Also, if anybody is interested in a comparison with a team that's not right next to your team chronologically, let me know and I can run the numbers.

Not sure what it is, but I'm having the same issue with Gibson. 6-8 with a 1.53 WHIP after 20 starts.

There's a clear difference between '68 Gibson pitching at Busch and pitching at Sportsman's Park. Six of the top seven '68 Gibsons are pitching at Busch Stadium (those Gibsons have ERA's below 4.20). Five of the seven poorly performing Gibsons (ERA 4.40+) are pitching in Sportsman's Park. Of course, I have one of those poorly performing Busch Gibsons.
