fwiw, I just finished a season playing Man defense, the SG had a 74 BLK rating ended up with 1 block. The SF, had a 48 rating, finished with 16 blocks.
As expected, the C had a 94 BLK rating, had 53 blocks.
that is a crazy disparity, but not surprised. i think this is exactly what TJ was talking about - perhaps, that 1 blk is significantly underselling the value of that 74 blk, particularly when defending 2pt scoring guards. which i agree with. even though i basically completely ignore blk in my guards anyway.

I never recruit BlK in guards but I certainly look at it when I have a LP scoring guard and want to see who is covering him.

that might be a way to think of it or something along those lines, but that is definitely not how it is. i wouldn't recommend thinking of it that way either.

anyway, if you have 3+ always players on the floor together, there are not enough defenders and the setting is ignored. also, the complexity of fcp is significantly more than that.
This is how Tarek explained FCP in a 2008 dev chat. Not sure if it still operates this way but this is how I've always treated it.

Concerning the press double team.. is the effectiveness of a press double team calculated the same as if 2 man to man defenders were to double team someone. And do you expect us to be alarmed by the frequency that we see the double teaming in the new pbp, while running a press? (mlatsko1 - Hall of Famer - 2:33 PM)

Yes, it's the same logic. What differs is whether the defense is able to effectively trap since they're chasing the ball while in a man to man, they're already assigned a defensive target to double. That is done by comparing the the offensive team's speed, ball handling, athleticism, IQ and passing ability to the pressing team's speed, athleticism, etc. If a team is very fast and athletic and they're pressing a slow, poor ballhandling team (for example), you're going to see many more traps in the pbp and many less open shots.
