I would be interested, I think. I might suggest, though, that we start with rosters at the end of the 1960 season (for 1961, the Angels and new Senators were added, while the former Senators became the Twins) and draft '61 rookies in reverse order of 1960 year-end standings . . . won't shake things up but so much, but at least would make 1961 a little less pro forma.
This is worth considering.

I have an idea about franchise players for the next few years as well. Still formulating it but will post it asap.

Sixteen big league franchises are up for grabs. When we get enough owners, they will be placed in a lottery for a random draft order and each owner will pick their franchise. A roster of players will be provided for each based on the end of the 1960 season. Owners will post a keeper list and in our first season, will have the opportunity to place any player who IRL was the property of their team in January, 1961. For example, the owner of the Cincinnati Reds could protect Pete Rose and the owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates could protect Willie Stargell.

They will draft available players in this order.
  1. Kansas City A's
  2. Philadelphia Phillies
  3. Chicago Cubs
  4. Boston Red Sox
  5. Cincinnati Reds
  6. Detroit Tigers
  7. Washington Senators
  8. Cleveland Indians
  9. San Francisco Giants
  10. Los Angeles Dodgers
  11. St. Louis Cardinals
  12. Chicago White Sox
  13. Milwaukee Braves
  14. Baltimore Orioles
  15. Pittsburgh Pirates
  16. New York Yankees

Not sure I understand . . . how does Pete Rose enter the equation when his first season is 1963? Was he "property" of the Reds on 1/1/61? (And how would we know?) Stargell's also a '63 rookie.

If you look a player up on Baseball Reference and scroll down to their translation history, you can see what org they were part of. For example, Rose: "July 8, 1960: Signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an amateur free agent." For Stargell: "August 7, 1958: Signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent."

Of course this would require indendent research on the part of each owner, but it would only apply to the first season. Id be open to a cap, like perhaps only up to three future stars per team or sonething like that.

Trying out some unique concepts here so just sort of figuring out all the details. Very much open to collaboration.

Really like this creative idea. However, the bottom 4 teams (A's, Phillies, Cubs and Red Sox) have some major roster issues. Any way each of those teams could get an extra number 1 pick somewhere in the first round the first year to give them a glimmer of hope? The 60's are a classic era loaded with hall of famers and it is awesome to see the nucleus of the teams historically accurate.

Very much worth considering.

This right here is why I'm taking my time with this. It was originally just a random thought but we could make it something special if we really make sure we get it right.

Agreed, those 4 need help to ever compete. Maybe the final 4 picks in round 1 as compensatory picks.

I'll try and put together a formal presentation of how this will look over the long holiday weekend.

BullMoose ran a fan favorite franchise league in which each team started by keeping only 9 of its own players and then had the draft. 3 position players, 3 pitchers and 3 others. Each future season teams could keep any of their own rookies but still could only carry 9 franchise players. So the "rich" teams would have to release some good players into the draft. I liked the league because the nucleus of the teams was close to real life but limiting teams to 9 franchise players really gave all teams a chance to win. With this format it would be cool to have all 16 teams match real franchise names and ballparks . If you are interested, I could forward you more details or rules to look at and you could pick the rules you like. If not, I would still be interested in joining.
