Hey steelers - thanks for trying to get this going. Posting this publicly to get more perspective and feedback. I think I was actually commissioner of the PPL taking over from ginandjuice or at least helped, but it's been so long I forget some things.
First question/confirmation: I can draft LeBron in the inaugural draft and choose to start with 03, 08, 18 or whatever.
Second question part 1: "3. In drafts year 2-5 A rookie player can start with any of his first three seasons in the WIS database. A rookie player is any player that has been drafted for the first time in a conference after the initial draft (AND WAS NOT DRAFTED IN THE INAUGURAL DRAFT)". I assume, but wanted to confirm. I looked back to the old PPL year two draft and the posts are somewhat incomplete, but it looks like Webber and McDyess were somewhat notable examples of players who I assume weren't drafted season 1 and then take.
Second question part 2: You can also expect as owners progress their player seasons and with a 52M cap will need to cut guys of some quality that may be attractive.
Second question part 3: Follow up on dBKC's question, do you simply mean that in LeBron's case for example, if this league lasts long enough that you get to his 22-23 season and there's no 23-24 in the database, he retires.
Second question part 4: Are all players in the database available for subsequent drafts? For example, can I draft Keegan Murry who has 1 rookie season in the database? Timing wise, the follow up question is if the next season draft happens and he has no second season - he goes back as a FA. Or, if it happens that during season 1 WIS drops season 2 and Keegan Murray is now available - you keep him.
I think you were at least somewhat. I think onslaught might’ve been to for a while or logain idk.
1. so what’s different in this PPL is I really only want this to be a 5 season league not a full on progressive last time it was clear to me this league can’t make it more than 5-6 seasons. So to your first question yes you can start with Lebron in 05 or technically in 22.
2.1 so in the old ppl I believe rookies could start whenever but I wanted to change it to first 3 seasons. This would probably make drafts in years 2-5 less important to so I’m open to making it so any rookie can start whenever. I’d appreciate peoples thoughts on this I just didn’t want to make subsequent drafts to important.
2.2 any cut players will continue to progress until they retire. Players that retire start over and gain rookie status again.
2.3s my point on the 23/24 seasons was I felt it added random luck. I want all 23/24 and on seasons to be ineligible. So when Lebron finishes 22/23 he retires and reenters the rookie pool.
2.4 for guys like Keegan Murray. To me it would make sense that they retire and reenter the rookie pool every year.
let me know if I answered any questions inadequately or if you have suggestions.
