Here's my playoff predictions....


Eastern Conference

In:

Durant's little Drawfs - Surrounded Durant with lots of 3pt shooting and rebounding, love it.
Stuck in the Middle With You - Awesome frontcourt should make up for weak backcourt, that front line is sick.
Booz Your Daddy? - Billups and Landry are gonna get to the line a ton. Boozer more then makes up for the presence of Spencer Hawes(hate that guy).
Emp's Dwight and Bodies - I loved every pick you made, Pierce especially.
The Vanilla Gorilla - Pick against the leagues eventual MVP? No thank you.
Uh Oh Maggette-O - Super-efficient offense led by the underrated PG combo of Ridnour/JDub

Out:

Deadscott's Freebies - Love the JKidd pick but probably too many shots for Beasley.
Kobe and the Kobettes - Not liking the Baron and Kobe backcourt. Kobe needs someone to feed him the ball, not jack up bad shots.
Phi Slamma Jamma - You have no one to clean up all the bricks Jennings and Jackson are gonna be shooting.
Wade and Company - Ray Allen pick was a steal, but I don't think Okafor has enough help on the glass.
DC Swag - Too much scoring from the midrange and don't really like the options at PG.
Mean Machine - Nash and Brooks will light teams up but you're gonna have trouble stopping other teams from scoring.


Western Conference

In:

Cancer Patience - Picking against uva is dumb, plus I love the inside-outside Spurs combo.
Deron It Up - Great backcourt should carry this team. And like you said, T-Will can be great if he doesn't shoot
Los Angeles Lakers - I really don't like Butler but that front line is gonna kick my *** all year.
WePlayTheWhole42Mins - Of course I'm picking my team. No D but great 3pt shooting and probably the best PG combo.
5280 Basketball Club - Crawford and Mo should score a bunch from the outside and Wallace gives you a nice advantage on the boards at SF.
Time Drainers - Rondo leads a solid defensive group that should do well on the glass.

Out:

Can I have some mayo with that - Losing a big advantage by playing David West at the 4 instead of the 3. Flynn is a bad PG.
Iggy and the Foulettes - Not enough shooting and as your name suggests, the fouls may be a problem.
Collison's Collisions - Rebounds are always important, and this is probably the worst team at getting boards.
Hasselhoff - No paint scoring and the 3pt shooting you do have is poor. Short on boards as well.
Purple Drank - Should dominate the boards but also the fouls and turnovers.
Who Needs Centers? - As much as I love the Gasol/Scola/Frye combo, I hate the poor shooting and turnovers of Westbrook more.

Divison Winners -  Durant's little Drawfs, Emp's Dwight and Bodies, Cancer Patience, 5280 Basketball Club

Eastern Conference Champ - Emp's Dwight and Bodies

Western Conference Champ - Cancer Patience

Champion - Emp's Dwight and Bodies




Overall I think the East is stronger then the West. The Central is the toughest division and the Pacific is the weakest.

I like Cancer Patience over Stuck in the Middle With You in the finals.

Although it should be noted that it's hard to say how much Stuck in the Middle (sag inside to the max) and the Dyslexic Dwarf's (double Durant with no semblance of a #2 scorer) with be affected by painfully obvious defensive strategies.

about stuck in the middle. even thought they have an awsome front court a team can't win with no backcourt and no scoring at all. how can a team make the playoffs let alone go to the championship with nobody in the backcourt and nobady even scoring more than 16 points a game. they also have no wow players

offensive firepower is certainly a weakness(although roddy/nazr/nate give a nice punch) but everything else is so good its hard not to pick them...boards, assists, defense, low to and fls...all very very good....tho it might be a problem if your main man down the stretch is andre miller

Ouch.  Sure hope you're wrong steelers, glad to see at least someone thinks so.  My team is simply a product of my drafting strategy.  I knew the league had more scorers than rebounders, therefore rebounders should be a premium.  In retrospect, I probably should have started drafting a backcourt one round earlier and I am worried that my team is one dimensional when it comes to defensive strategy.  As it is, I do have 100% usage on the court at all time.  We'll average 100 points per game and will hold opponents to less.  I do think you can win with big men and defense IRL, just not sure about the current SIM version.

East:

1. Stuck in the Middle With You

5. Durant's Little Dwarfs
6. The sixth spot could go to a number of teams.  With that shooting percentage the Maggette-O's could have some meat, but with that low usage this could be the first time we see a shot clock violation in the SIM.   I like Wade, Dwight, and Booz as well.  The only ones that are for sure not going to make it are Kobe, Mean Machine, and Phi Slamma Jamma. 

West

1. Cancer Patience - clearly a strong fast paced team with great shooting.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
3. Time Drainers
4. Deron it Up
5. Iggy and the Foulettes
6. Who Needs Centers will squeeze out Hasselhoff for the sixth spot.

Cancer Patience and Stuck in the Middle in the finals.  Gotta stay positive and pick my boys to pull it off.  (what good coach wouldn't?)

Worst record in the league will either belong to Collison's Collisons or Can I have some Mayo with that.  None of Mayo's top nine players have more than 19% DReb or 20% assists and the guy who shoots the most shoots 41%.  Looking at the Per / Mid / Paint numbers you're going to spend 80% of your time in my wheelhouse.  You sure that's Mayo?

As much as I appreciate dh and steelers for thinking so highly of Dwight and his sidekicks, I think deanod or sawtech have it closer to true - I don't think I have enough offensive rebounding to account for the bricks I'll be putting up (which will be higher than normal due to a lack of assists.)

THANK YOU deadscott, I don't know why I was getting so much disrespect league-wide. I mean yes, I have a pretty terrible defense, but I think I have the best scoring efficiency and one of the best rebounding teams in the league. Creb% & efg%win games (despite defense & turnovers/fouls) in the SIM, so why do I see my team at the bottom of so many lists? :(


Anyways, here's my educated guesstimate:

EASTERN CONFERENCE

 

1. Emp’s Dwight and Bodies – Rebounding is solid, and your scoring efficiency is awesome. I love the overall build of your team, nice draft.

2. Booz Your Daddy? – Great scoring and solid rebounding = automatic playoffs in WIS. Nice teem elbowitz.

3. Stuck in the Middle With You – Guards are terrible, but you have the best forwards and defense in the league

4. Uh-Oh Maggette-O – You stole most of my picks, and for good reason. You’ve got great rebounding and overall scoring efficiency. Usg% may be a problem down the road, but I like your chances.

5. Durant’s Illiterate Dwarfs – I don’t like the usg% you’ve put around Durant, and your rebounding is gonna lose you some games, but those shooters are too damn efficient to keep you out of the playoffs

6. Wade & Company – You’re a little thin on the boards, but the solid scoring you’ve put around Wade should get you into the playoffs

 

7. The Vanilla Gorilla – Your rebounding is surprisingly average (I figured you’d make Lebron the PG instead of drafting a rebounding liability like Conley). I’m probably wrong, but I don’t think your scoring is enough to make up for it.

8. DC Swag – Rebounding alright, but you’re way over usg%. Turnovers may be an issue, and I don’t think your efg% is good enough to compensate for it.

9. Mean Machine – Scoring efficiency is solid, but I’m not sure if your rebounding can make up for it. Maybe your ridiculous assist% (at least when Nash & Brooks are on the floor) will make up for it.

10. Kobe and the Kobettes – Rebounding is solid, but those bricks are gonna come back to haunt you

11. Phi Slamma Jamma – Amare’s a solid SF, maybe PF, but by putting him at center with your terrible rebounding and scoring efficiency you’re shooting yourself in the foot

12. Deadscott’s Freebies – Defense wins championships… but not in the SIM. Beasley surrounded by low usg% isn’t a combination for success… even in real life ;)

 

 

WESTERN CONFERENCE

 

1. WePlayTheWhole42Mins – Rebounding is pretty good (Zbo putting up 20/20’s helps), but your scoring is excellent. Love the overall build of your team, not to mention that PG duo.

2. 5280 Basketball Club – Love the rebounding (Wallace being able to play SG/SF almost isn’t fair), and your scoring pretty solid. With great defenders at the wing, G-Wall, and inside, Noah, your team’s gonna be real tough to beat.

3. Los Angeles Lakers – I hate your guards (3 PGs and Caron Butler…mehh), but your frontcourt challenges Stuck in the Middle With You for the best in the league, and given the solid scoring, I think you’ll be able to makeup for it

4. Purple Drank – All favouritism aside, I have great rebounding and scoring efficiency. Turnovers and defense may be my undoing, but they aren’t enough to keep me out of the playoffs.

5. Cancer Patience – Great ast% and solid scoring efficiency should get you into the playoffs despite your lackluster rebounding

6. Deron It Up – Scoring should be extremely efficient (if you can force the ball out of T-Will’s hands) with the high efg% and great ast% , but your rebounding may lead to some costly losses down the stretch. Still, I think that offense should get you into the playoffs.

 

7. Time Drainers – Rebounding is pretty good, but with the strength of the western conference (IMHO), I don’t think your scoring efficiency is good enough to get you into the playoffs.

8. Who Needs Centers? – Great rebounding and solid scoring efficiency from your bigs is great, but your leader in usg% is has an efg% of 42.8. The solid ast% will get you close, but down the stretch I think Westbrook is gonna miss some costly shots.

9. Iggy and the Foulettes – Assists are great, and your rebounding is alright, but your lack of a true center will really hurt you in some games. With Harris and Blatche as your usg% leaders, I’m not sure if your scoring will get you into the playoffs.

10. Collison’s Collisions – Assists will be great, and your scoring is alright, but you’re gonna get out-rebounded in most of your games. I know it’s only one stat, but rebounding is the most important one in the SIM, and a lack of possessions is a killer 

11. Hasselhoff – Rebounding isn’t too good, and I don’t think your scoring efficiency is good enough to make up for it. I’m trying to find some other aspect of the team you may have been striving for during the draft, but nothing really sticks out.

12. Can I have some mayo with that – Going over the usg% limit doesn’t fix your rebounding or scoring efficiency. I just don’t understand the team-build.

Just some guesswork, but I really like the look of those two teams. Lets hope I'm proven wrong and we have an eventful month or two! 

I had you just outside the top 6 in the west. Think maybe I underestimated how good Jermaine and Diaw would be for you. Diaw is looking like a major steal right now. Melo's low efg% for such a high usg% scared me a bit, but I should have known better then to overlook the dominance on the boards.

Last 3 predictions had me out of the playoffs, so it's nice to see you picked me for the western champs....feel like my squad is a lock for the playoffs.

You're welcome ianrox22.  And you repay me with a cellar prediction? I'm new at this, so I guess tough defense, poor usage and crappy coaching is not a winning formula.

lol Sorry deadscott, maybe I just don't see how some of the teams plan on winning games (especially the Lebron team that I'm completely regretting putting at #7 instead of 6 or higher), but I just don't think you had a team identity (like up-tempo baords/efg%, or maybe slow-down defense an decent offense). But hey, Beasley's scoring 40 in real life, so it could happen. 

And yeah dh555, I didn't think Diaw would be killing it like he is (probably my favourite pick so far). JO is great off the bench, but I'm kinda ****** off with my first two picks. The plan was to get Melo (33+ usg% player) and an efficient sidekick (22.1+ usg% with good efg%, 3's and ast%), and then fill out the team with rebounding. But Melo is NOT rebounding/assisting, and Curry (albeit very efficient) isn't taking any shots! I guess having Shaq/JO on the court is making Curry the #3 guy (ugh!). If only I had known when picking in the second round that I'd be able to get JO/Shaq & ben Wallace/solid bench rebounders later in the draft. I would have picked someone like Lamar Odom at #2, and then my rebounding would've been amazing. Would've been thin at PG, but still.....oh well, hindsight is 20/20.



ps: slymonium, given that you're first in the league as of right now, I'm (kinda) sorry for doubting the epicness of Lebron in the SIM. But hey, we've still got 77 more games to go. We'll see...
