Agreed. He'd be lousy even if he was right-handed with that arm. Only saving grace is the glove. He should be a 1B or LF.

Bumped because Nick_Dean just had his best season at third. 1 error and 6 (-) plays.

Looks like Nick had a nice season in the field. Send in a ticket and maybe they'll fix it for next year.

I also had decent success with a y at 3B. Not my ideal defensive ratings but sometimes you just gotta give it a shot and see how it works out.

So, balls hit to his (in the hole) might cause him problems, but balls hit to his right (down the line) would seem easier to field.

It would also seem to me that on balls hit into the hole, if he makes the backhand, he is in position to throw to either 2nd Base or 1st Base, though he might not field as many of those as a right handed 3B
Personally, I like to play a right footed soccer-style kicker at third, so that his kicking motion easily propels the ball to first base. I will concede that an old-fashioned, straight ahead kicker like Lou Groza may have an advantage on plays at the plate.

.

Every player ( or right handed) has an advantage in one direction or the other. Yes, your theoretical LH 3B has an advantage to his right but he wouldn't get to any more balls going both directions than if he was right handed.

Your theoretical LH 3B would simply play a little further off the line than a righty and gain NO range.

I won't even get into the hypothetical y making throws to 2nd or 1st.
