Most people are saying I didnt cherry pick, not that i did.. And if the dude lived in my state i would gladly enjoy asking him to step outside or meet me at a bar or anywhere else... I'm so sorry for venting about this.. Thats just how i am.. I didnt cherry pick ****... All I did was chose a school that a relative went to years ago and thought it would be fun....

I dont mind people talkin ****, thats not the problem, the problem is every other damn day this guy is posting crap about me... Every single one of you has there limits and would take a certain amount until you reach a certain point.

Hall of Famer

Forum Posts: 231 Dmiles, he didn't have a team in that world for several seasons and then rejoins to take over the defending national champions. For him to call anyone a cherrypicker is ludicrous. Your best bet is to just laugh at him like everyone else is.

Bingo, end of story and thread

I love you dmiles but seriously, you need to stop here. He's wrong, you're right. But that doesn't matter. You're giving him everything he wants by making this as personal as you are. It doesn't matter that you aren't cherry picking -- as you noted your relative went to the school. Cherry picking doesn't count when you have a connection to a school like that. But he doesn't care and he's just trying to torment you. And he's winning.

What was said about you wasn't that bad. Even if it was, it is the internet -- who cares. And even if by chance you did care, you shouldn't be giving him the satisfaction that you are.

He has said hardly anything to you. And has probably kicked back and laughed as you've overreacted to everything he's done.

9/13 -- he makes one comment about "stealing" another team. You respond not once, but twice that day. And then you respond once more the next morning. You've pretty much let him know that he's in your head.

9/15 -- he criticizes you as being unable to recruit. You make 6(!) posts in response to it. Do you think at this point he's not going to needle you more? You are begging for it.

9/16 -- he brings up the fact that your coaching profile currently has a poor reputation. You are smart and just reply once but you mention you are getting sick of it. Begging for yet another post that will get under your skin.

9/18 -- One more post and two more comments by you.

At this point, he's used 83 words. You've used 844. (And yes I put the posts into Word to get a count -- as much as I side with you on this, even I'm finding it funny how much you are overreacting.) When he knows that for every word he posts, he's going to get 10 angry words out of you in response, why wouldn't he make posts like he has.

And then it appears you spent your entire Friday night trying to convince this message board that he's a jerk and that you didn't cherry pick. I hope he doesn't read the forum because if he does, he's won yet again.

Just stop posting. If he posts again, ignore it. The worst thing that you can do is to continue what you have been -- show that you're upset, type way too many words demonstrating how he's under your skin, and refuse to let him go away.

Don't feed the troll. The more you react, the more he'll keep poking you and nudging you and trying to get under your skin. Just ignore him and he'll probably get bored and go away.

just play him and beat him no more is needed

I'm in a "classic" cherry picking scenario. Over in Crum when recruiting started I went after a PG up in Calgary Canada. When 1st round results came back he was considering Colorado. While the player indicated some interest in my school (Eastern Washington) I had lots of scholarships to fill so I went elsewhere. Right before signings I had all my open slots ready to be filled with guys considering only me. In fact, I was lucky to have (almost) zero battles and excess cash so I took another look at that canadien. Arizona State was now also listed as being considered.

I withdrew an offer on 1 player and went after him. 2 cycles into signings Colorado had been de-listed. So now it's just me and Arizona State dueling in the cold flat north. My heart goes out to the Colorado coach but tough. And after ASU and its A- prestige overwhelms my C (something) and I'm out of money, tough. I have no idea why I wrote this other than to mention...
--> the competition itself has been very fun.

P.S. I hope the ASU coaches fingers turn black and fall off with frostbite. :) Good luck!

Jenningss, that would be the classic recruiting myth that is poaching. That's a different form of (alleged) evil in HD than the cherry picking being discussed here. Doesn't make you a bad coach, just a bad human being and I'm sure thorknight would like to have a word or 50 with you. /sarcasm

Um, your right about cherry picking vs poaching. What the heck was i thinking?

He admits what he did and moves on^. That is something dmiles can take away from your posts, as out of place as they may seem (no offense jenningss)

Probably, the guy is just upset because HE wanted the team you got, and you beat him out for the position, and he's stuck mismanaging his own fiasco of a program.

Screw him, enjoy your success! This is for fun... and if he's that annoying, send in a ticket to the mystical, magical enforcers of rules and conduct for WIS.

You weren't. But then again, you're a poacher and are the scum of the earth, so asking you to think would be asking too much

(hopefully you're not taking anything I say seriously)
