Tanker's tank. Updates will not change that.

if those owners want to hurt their own players, yes

let's see, save some $ next season or win more games...

Arbitration demands will begin reflecting the player’s performance in addition to his ratings. For example, if he was moved to a back up role or out for an extended time with an injury, you won’t see his demands significantly increase.

To me, this says that the ratings will still have a factor and the performance is not the be all, end all.

similar to tec's post, I have an affinity for all-glove SS ... mostly because good defensive SS that can also hit are very tough to get ... and because you need a couple SS on the roster anyway (bench depth and injury backup), I tend to run a platoon

so the SS I tend to have are not "good" ... yet, because of the defense-inflated OVR, they want $4M by Arb2 ... I end up releasing them, they want $4M x4 in FA, never get signed, erode, and retire ... if their demands get reduced because the Sim sees that they are platoon players at best, that keeps them employed for a couple more seasons ... and if those lower demands carry over to FA, maybe they stay employed for a whole career

note that this could also help alleviate the "OMFG!!! not enough SS" rants from the crowd that is too lazy to develop their own SS

I'm guessing the actual effect of this will be minimal. Seems to me that most arb demands, regardless of ratings, are quite similar. 1m-1.4m in the first season. 3.5m-4.5m in the second season. Then they get a little varied in S3.

I've had a few Arb2 demands hit ~6M in the las few seasons, more annoyingly i lost them. I think the change 'll hold down the cost of career bench players, which IMO is a good thing, nothing worse than a 1B/LF asking for 4M when hes played 80G in the previous 2 seasons.

I figure that they'll use some sort of average stat to look for usage rates over previous season(s) and determine if someone should be discounted in Arb.

I'm not convinced we'll see any "discounts".

But, I think we'll see the 66 OVR 1B who can challenge for a Triple Crown, but might as well be playing the field with bare hands, ask for something comparable to an 80 OVR, since his .900+ OPS warrants it.

Yeah I agree with that. 1B who can smack the ball around, who you can get for 5.4m LT might starting asking for 8.5m.
