Many coaches have been asking to modify DI so that there are not so many 90s across the board. Seble released the 1st batch of recruits and we made recommendations. The 2nd batch was released but there were errors in stamina and a few other areas. The 3rd batch was better than the 2nd but still there were issues like DII schools seeing hundreds of ranked recruits. We are now evaluating the 4th batch and while it does contain a lot more diversity and cuts down on the upper DII schools seeing ranked recruits, there are still more tweeks needed. We're getting there and seble is doing an outstanding job through it all.
If you're going to lower the D1 ratings though, isn't there going to have to be a trickle down effect for D2 and D3 as well? Is this being accounted for?

Yes, there is a definite trickle down (more like monsoon) effect. The starting points have been lowered across the board and therefore the caps will likely max out lower as well.

The guy above is a SG and is the #1 overall ranked player. Seems really weak for a #1.

Furry rate of growth for players is going to be slowed down.

One of the things I will be looking at during the beta tests is whether the high perimeter ratings of the posts will allow post players to shoot 3's at a high percentage. It would really be hard to defend a pf that has a very solid LP rating and Per rating. Could make the game a lot more fun.

I know, it just depends how much rate will slow down. The 'fast' growth isn't much of an issue IMO. Its the fact you can put 30+ points in the area and max it out to fast because you get no growth anywhere else. It looks like there is still a lot of reds which mean a large chunk of the cores still won't budge. If average is still like 5-12 improvements, they will still max out in about 2 seasons. You don't want to slow it down to much just so these 1-3 Lows or 5-12 averages continue to improve. I'd increase the lows/average a little so they max out sometime in So season for low (if you work on it) and like mid so/start Jr season at earliest for JR. Lets say you get 6 improvements per year, thats about 20 for average if you really focus on it. I'd want low to be closer towards 2-9 for growth. That would be about 1.5 seasons before it maxes out (could be longer if you try to put under 10 mins to it), which is a lot better then showing up maxed out.

Agreed. You should.

Furry, I really don't get what you are seeing about "All the red everywhere" - At the very least there is less then there is now.

If its true that LP is going to mean more finishing than LP moves that would explain why so many Gs have high potential for LP. I guess seble wants us to think of it as finishing at the rim on drives as well as post moves. If thats true it would probably work that Gs with a higher LP would be more likely to finish and and 1 time play on a drive than a guy with lower LP.

If thats true then they also might want to think about adding a separate category for actual post up moves.

I am talking about main cores. Yeah, everyone has high pot in def and stamina and dura. I am talking about ath/speed/bh/per/passing for guards. On average, it seems like 2 or more of these are still low. Another may be average (which means what? hardly above double digits in improvement?)

1/6/2010 11:03 PM
Furry, I don't think you are seeing things right because not everyone has highs in those areas and not everyone has lows in those areas, yes some people do but to say "Everyone has lows in these core attributes" is not accurate.

Average also means up to 20 points of improvement, so no you are wrong there also. Also a player with 79 or higher rating can not have a High in potential.
