max contract tiebreak? Topic

i thought this might be possible as well, which i could see. but like austin said, he was in the lead for a couple of "real life" days. i may just send a ticket and see what they say.

my team in HJ sucks so i dont pay much attention to FA signings there, haha. gimme a season or two tho. but i know what ur saying, im not really upset cuz i spent the $ anyway, but id just like to know for the future because i budgeted that cap specifically for fuller.

Preston Day to San Fran worked out like it should!

In one of my worlds, we had a similar thing happen with IFA.... 3 owners had put in the MAX bid. The team that he went to was the team with the better coaches.. this caused an interesting debate in the chat area.

I was surprised that one of the tie-breakers was 'First bid' in..Now for an IFA this can be a matter of luck. Mainly cause notices of a IFA can come at any cycle, so if you happen to check in at the right time... As for FAs, I've got a problem with this even being part of the tie-breaking process... reward an owner for not having a life (being able to stay up late and put in the bid 1 minute after the AM1 cycle is over)... This a was main point against this factor in the tie-breaking system we had in that world.

Coaches, I'm not really sure how realistic they are as factor. I do know there have been few real life FAs in MLB who have gone to team due to a Manager, Pitching coach etc but not those are rare. I guess, there has to be something used to break a tie and this does make coach hiring worth a little more.....

Also, while it's realistic when looking at how real FAs decide where they want to go; here in HBD I feel the team with 'worse' record should have the advantage. Give them the best shot at getting the better players; therefore making their MLB team more competitive; instead of the rich getting richer.

Again I know this isn't 'realistic' but this a fantasy league anyway!!! I'd rather see a top notch FA go to a team that needs him, than him going to a team that's already a juggernaut...

whats the max bid on IFA? 90M?

185M - 20M Prospect - 6M Coaching - 13M to 14M Player(25 guys @ 327K + 5M for minors)

50% transfer penalty puts you at 72.5+20=92.5M for prospect budget?

I certainly hope nobody has ever made a "max" bid on IFA

You'd be surprised ea162.....

aginor... "first" to bid isn't a tie-breaker anymore.... but it was before the most recent update.

Sorry it wasn't an IFA thought it was, still no 'max' on those yet

It was indeed a FA that sparked the debate in Mr. October. Sorry

iain, that was what one owner was told when he asked admin about the tie breaking. But he was told it was the very last criteria for breaking a tie.

I don't have a problem with coaching being part of though. Makes hiring them important, especially if you intend to go after big FAs!!

I would however still like to see the worst record, get the priority. Give the weaker teams a better shot at some those big FAs

Oh, wow. I stand corrected.

All other thing being equal, I would go to the team willing to pay me the most the quickest.

classic initial response...

i was wondering if you could help me better understand the logic that goes into a player's decision on who to sign with when multiple teams offer him a max contract. recently in Camp world, i and the owner of detroit offered ss lonny fuller a max contract (with no trade and player option).

now, i have a much better hitting coach, play in a better hitter's stadium than detroit and won my division last season while detroit lost over 100 games. so that would make me 3-3 over detroit when it comes to the so-called tiebreakers.

so why would fuller sign with detroit?

any help in understanding this player's decision would be appreciated.
