aintheb, trying odd things is great. constant experimenting (although, in a rigourous, disciplined way) is what got me where i am, and helped me adapt so quickly. if you think about it, none of us have a perfect view of how the sim engine should work. so that implies that at times, things that are counter-intuitive to us will actually help. so, you should always try new stuff, and odd stuff =)

As an entirely unrelated example: One of my best ever power forwards, that gave others FITS had a near seventy speed and a 31 Athleticism, and otherwise good post numbers.

(At dIII) He got a ton of offensive rebounds, by his senior year was pulling something in the range of 15 a game, would throw in steals and blocks. Yes, he was often out athleted, but his speed could cause allot of the teams I was playing there fits.

I like finding uses for odd combinations of abilities, because you can often recruit some high ratings in permutations that noone else is looking for on the cheap.

a-in-the-b:
How does a player get "out athleted"? What exactly do you mean by that?

Thanks to all for the thoughts. Very interesting to hear the different takes on things.

This SG was around 80 in ath, spd, and per. His BH and P were in the 40's. Basically he was a spot up 48% 3pt shooter. I think what also helped was the dominant C I had at the time.

Obviously one player having a higher, much higher, athleticism than the other.

To be more specific, how do you think having the higher Alth rating manifested itself on the court? The example you give shows 15 rebounds/game, etc. So he struggled against betterh Althetes and his stats went down?

CHalmers doesn't play guard.

Well then, nevermind!

Chalmers will be a good baller down the road for A. I watched some the pbp of him when he comes in he's dunking on some guys and hammering the 3 point bomb.

CHalmers was signed to play at SF< with the possibility of getting some guard in if his Speed went up enough, which it hasn't. He has actually been fairly effective for me as a SF< so I'm not complaining.

Very good player you had and looks like my SG that I had provided earlier. I still think ath helps though. In my opinion, ath helps in a few categories. Between our players the stats are very similar. In one of them it seems though that your player had more TO's per game. At first glance I would say that ath has something to do with that because ath is supposed to help against a fullcourt press. A factor in this would also be the player distro and I don't know what Rigsby had. But I know that Kato had a high player distro, which was needed for his ppg. Also, Kato has higher rebounding per game too which could have been helped by his ath. But once again I don't know Rigsby's or Kato's rebounding ratings. Now for your example, I probably would take the 25 ath 79 sp guy over the other but I would play him at point only unless I had no choice. I would still look for ath in my sg. Hard to do at DIII though.

I wish postma who's one of my SG had a higher ath, and speed he would probably be a stud at sf where i'm playing him.
