They are supposed to be making individual matchups more meaningful w. the new engine. That's a definite shortcoming right now.

So my team is doing well this season and we are beating sims by a good margin as to be expected. Just played against the zone and shot 25% from 3 and shot poorly from the perimeter as well. Now I am not debating the game plan here. Is the poor shooting the product of my low perimeter ratings or because it was a sim that played at 0? Normally a human coach would play much farther inside and shooting more 3's would most likely be the better game plan. I also noticed that we still had more assists than turnovers which shows that we were not trying to force the ball inside. Is my team expected to struggle shooting the ball against this team at 0?

your team is shooting poorly because of low per ratings without exceptional spd/bh. giving your team the once over, it is clear you have a major weakness, which is 3 point shooting.

should you have shot as poorly against that crappy team? probably not. 4-16 is not unreasonable though for a poor 3 point shooting team. its really easy to make or miss a couple extra threes (and significantly easier to miss a couple extra) compared to your average, so on 16 attempts, that is really not surprising at all. expected? no, but very reasonable.

its tough to do anything at this point. really, the time to solve this problem is 3 and 4 season ago when you were recruiting your upperclassmen guards. a critical element of competing at a high level is planning your teams out well in advance, making sure you put together a group of players that will cover all the bases, and will work together in an effective and efficient manner. its tough, but makes all the difference in the world...

Yeah I agree. I missed the boat in the perimeter department. I think I was concentrating on defense more which may be my mistake. However, I can't say that it is all bad since our defense is superior to just about everyone else. And we have only really struggled against the zone where not that many teams play. It is just too bad that defense isn't really helpful with the fullcourt press as that would give me another advantage. Oh well. Hopefully I won't go up against a zone team in the NT or I'm screwed.

Ok. Here we go. PRIME EXAMPLE of why shooting 3's against a zone does not work and is not worth it unless you have healthy perimeter shooting. Perimeter in the 50's is clearly not good enough against -3. Both Cessna and Stanger were set at 0 so they were "within the flow" of the offense. They did not have a major proportion of plays. Actually my starting bigs had more distribution. This strategy has only ever worked a couple times for me between DII and DIII and I will never do it again unless I have high perimeter. I have better shooting in real life than these guys.
