I think that's where you are over-stating their relative importance. Going into Sunday, Minnesota was 4-4 against RPI 1-25 and MissState was 0-3. Obviously an MSU win would have taken an at-large bid away from someone, but assuming both MN and MSU would lose Sunday, I think you could say the relative importance of those two games, comparing those two teams, was rather minimal.

I think the biggest case of omission is William and Mary (5-3 versus RPI 1-50 and 2-0 versus RPI 1-25).

Again, Minnesota was 4-5 versus RPI 1-25 while VT was 0-3, RI was 0-5 and Miss State was 0-4 versus RPI 1-25. It's pretty cut and dry.

Exactly. It didn't mean that Sunday's games meant nothing, it meant that what happened in Sunday's games wasn't enough to change the picture -- i.e. a close loss wasn't enough to bridge the gap that already existed between Minnesota and Miss State. That simple.
