I would have to look it up to be sure, but i think there are quite a few teams that shoot more threes than the Big Red. We shoot it well, and I guess we do shoot a fair number of treys, but i dont think its any where near "every shot they put up.

oldave - just a point of clarification - the Ivy League does not give athletic scholarships, but a great many of their athletes in all sports get "academic" scholarships that pay their way the same way an athletic scholarship would. It's the dirty little secret of Ivy League sports.

The only true "no scholarship" conference is the Patriot League.



i have to admit you are mostly correct my friend. i guess i was hoping for a few sympathy votes. but, you are pretty much correct.

the only rebuttal i will offer is that its not usually academic scholarships, but need-based grants. (at least at Cornell) So players from low income homes are able to get these grants,... and those from high income homes (Wittman for instance) really dont need the help. But i would argue that the mid-income kids might not allways get a free ride which could affect thier decision to attend Cornell.

It is my understanding that Harvard, Yale, Princeton have gotten really aggressive with thier "need based aid" school-wide and so it may be that most or all of thier hoops players have a free ride.

Cornell is a IVY league school, kentucky will buy the $10 tickets Cornell will get the court side $100+ tickets

beating Temple was one of the happiest moments of my "life as a sportsfan" even topping all the Yanks World Series, even topping my Tark-Cuse NC or my Oneotna-Iba NCs .... topping the glory days in the late 80s and 90s for TexasAggie Football.... topping all the days i spent rooting for Tom Landry's Cowboys in the 70's. and topping the cuse national championship with melo and mcnamara (though that was pretty close i guess)

So if temple was the greaaratest moment ever for me... can you imagine my feelings as we throttled wisc? obviously.. a new greatest moment.

and , you know what, i hate to be a "moral victory" guy... especially when the game hasnt even happened yet. but i think if cornell were able to play well and make a game of it... even if they lost... that might become my new "greatest sportsfan moment ever" (especially since I will be there)



(footnote: if the yanks had beaten the dbacks in 2001, then that would be hard to beat . even in the losing effort, that one has to rank right up there for me)
