There's 1:43 to go in the game, and you're up 7 with the ball. You've been playing normal tempo but switched to slowdown for this end game situation. Is the smarter basketball strategy to:

A) Continue to look for the first good shot and attempt to score, or
B) Hold the ball and milk the clock for as long as possible (so, if there's no fouling, you'd be giving the ball back with a maximum of 1:09 on the clock and still up 7 points).

ETA: Does your answer change if all else is the same but the clock reads 2:07 instead of 1:43?

Are there any other factors you'd need to know before making this decision? Otherwise, I'll hang up and listen for a while
With 7 pts and a buck 43 remaining, the clock is really your best friend. I would absolutely hold the ball for the first 25-27 seconds of the shot clock, and then get into my offense with 8-10 seconds , looking to shoot with five seconds or less.

Was anything on this site ever anything different from this?

Posted this before reading any other responses.

The shots that were taken after 12 and 15 seconds, respectively, on the shot clock, are abonimable in my opinion. So is the fact that they defended the logic behind them.

If there isn't already, there should be something in the sim that can differentiate between a slowdown and a 4 corners.

Great post muredskin. I have never had any faith in responses from CS. I am hoping that they are just HS interns and not actually involved in the programming, because their answers are usually scarily ignorant. There are many people that are asking for more coaching options, but I, like you, would be happy if the coaching options were actually followed. Everyone can point out the amount of randomness in real life, but then you can question the bad coaching call. When you make the right coaching call and the players don't execute (SG misses a 3 only 12 seconds into a possession). Some major fixing is needed.
