I had my SG set to 17 distro score 31 points (on 10-22 FG, 7-10 FT) in my 2nd exhibition game in Smith. I was playing against a full-court press, so as far as I know there was no huge mismatch that was exploited.
OK ... was 17 high or low compared to your other players

most others on the floor were 8-9 but I had 2 big men set above him at 22 and 18. I guess relative to other players he should be taking more shots, but 22 FGA compared to 4, 3, 8 and 4 FGA for my other 4 starters.
Just never expected him to take so many shots because last season in the old engine he had never attempted nearly as many shots with a 24 dist and never topped 30 pts

the Bates team also only had one non-freshman guard and he has a 23 DEF rating. Plus a SF with a 28 DEF playing guard.

I believe the new engine is supposed to look for and exploit matchups where it is relatively easy to get off a shot. If you have two players at 17 and one is matched up against a top defender and the other is practically unguarded, one should be able to get off more shots than the other. Your SG had huge advantages in the matchups.

Yeah I had something kind of similar happen. My PG took a ton of shots, all 2 pointers, when matched against an inferior defender.

Not really complaining, he was 12-16 from the floor and just abused a younger, slower, less athletic defender.

I think there were FAR too many games where teams were receiving single digit FT attempts in the old engine (especially if you ran slowdown); perhaps they've swung back a little too far the other way, but not that much.

The biggest difference I've noticed in the 5 games run in Allen is the number of fouls in the act of shooting. Those have increased quite a bit (may be due to my players having high ATH though).
5/26/2010 9:52 PM
In my first of the do-over exhibitions, the teams combined for 56 fouls (31-25); in the second, 42 (32-10). The overall totals are well above average, and the disparity in the second is jarring. The team with 32 fouls (home team) ran a half-court press / man-to-man against a triangle, and the team with 10 ran a full-court press against a flex; the team with 32 fouls was a lot slower.

Adding to the issues with three-pointers, I have guys set to +2 shooting far fewer threes than I would expect, i.e. in game 1: 9 attempts out of 21 (which also seemed like a lot of attemps overall for a guy at 25 distro); 4 of 11; and 3 of 8. (Those guys were also set to 25 dirstro and combined for less attempts than the first guy.) I pretty much want those guys shooting threes whenever possible. I know that won't be 100%, but it should be well over 50%.

Your team took 5 3-pointers in the game. All 5 were with under a minute and down by 6 or more. The 5 shots were taken by your two guards and your PF playing SF. Even if the settings were at -2, with that situation, taking 3's is the correct thing.

Good enough. I wasn't complaining like some, just looking for an explanation so I can better understand the new system, thanks.

I still think 3Pt shooting in this engine is messed up. Look at this player through 7 games. ****** PER, average speed, and average ATH and he is lighting it up. He's shooting 46% for the year from the arc.

I've spotted several players like this incuding a center with a PER of 1 whos made more 3pters this season than his entire previous career.

I don't know about pouty, but the almighty HD guru dalter told me that one game is "literally meaningless" thus I must believe him...the game is operating perfectly...be gone.
Your issue seems to be that you want to be a dick ... nothing more, nothing less.

I'm just agreeing with what the know-it-alls of HD believe to be true.
I talked to Dalter. He believes that you should never post in the forums again.

I am going to agree with reinsel's observation. I have a young team with nine B-C IQs. Playing man-to-man, I am averaging almost 20 fouls per game with a high of 31.

My FTA rate (FTA / FGA) is currently .61. In real-life division 1 last year the highest was .529

FTAs are mainly up for all of my guards. My starting SG will surpass his 32 game FTA total in probably 6 games this season, getting roughly the same minutes and distro as last season. Two of my backup guards are getting .85 FTA/FGA, so almost 1 free throw attempt for every FGA. That's nuts.
6/2/2010 10:52 AM
THe last year sim world totals are irrelevant to the discussion, it doesn't need to match last year. DO you have the real life division three highest FTA/FGA after five games rather than the whole season, on hand?
